🐟 Salmon Season on the Trail 🐟

The rivers that cross the John o' Groats Trail aren't just beautiful to walk beside, they include some of Scotland's most celebrated salmon rivers too.

The Trail takes you past rivers in Wick, at Dunbeath Water, the River Berriedale, and Forss Water, so as you can see, its a real concentration of prime salmon water on your walk north.

Next time you're crossing one of these rivers on the Trail, take a moment to look down, you might just spot one running upstream!

💪 Go Clara and Mary Ann! 💪

A huge well done to recent walkers Clara and Mary Ann, both out on the Trail on long distance hikes! 👣👣

Jay met them both along the way and loved hearing their stories and excitement about their time on the Trail... fun fact: they didn't start out walking together, but met along the route and shared some miles together!

And that's one of the things we absolutely love about these adventures, it's not just the big views and wide skies, it's the people who make the experience!

Ladies, journey well from the team here on the Trail! It was lovely to hear about your adventures! 🌿

A new way to donate.... 👇👀👇

We are pretty excited, as we have received these new "text to donate signs" which we are "trialling on the Trail!"

The idea is that walkers can quickly and simply pop a small donation over the Trail via a text message to the charity to help directly support improvements - stiles / walkways / signage etc!

Our ambition as a small charity is clear: To develop the Trail through volunteer efforts and community support, in order to improve walking access for the community as well as develop the local tourism economy by opening the trail to long-distance walkers.

Here is how it works the new donations platform works:
Pop a text off to one off to the number 70085 with one of the following
JOGTFIVE to give £5
JOGTTEN to give £10
JOGTTWENTY to give £20
(Texts cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message, UK mobiles only).

🍔🔥Team BBQ! 🔥🍔

Last Sunday found us off the Trail and celebrating the JOGT team with a wee BBQ for some of our volunteers... the weather held, the burgers cooked beautifully and we got a chance to celebrate some of our fantastic volunteer team, who help keep the Trail open, accessible and marked for the walkers we get through!

We want to pass a special thanks to our local volunteers - these folks walk their sections regularly, they keep us updated on any issues, help with everything from bracken bashing to gorse clearing and meet a lot of the walkers along the way... as a small charity.. we would be (literally!) lost without them! Thank you!

Each year we have a number of hardy folks walk from Lands End to JOGT (or indeed JOGT to Lands End) and we affectionately dub them the "end to enders" ..

The thing is .... these bridges make us VERY excited....
