Eid in Bedford is always an amazing event, and I had the pleasure of attending today at Addison Howard Park in Kempston.

There was something for everyone plenty of rides, delicious food stalls, face painting, and lots of activities that made it a fantastic day out, especially for young people and families. The event seems to get better and better every year, bringing together local communities and businesses in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

Despite the weather not being at its best this year, the turnout was incredible, which is a testament to how well organised and popular this event has become. It’s a wonderful two-day celebration where everyone is welcome to come along, enjoy themselves, and experience the vibrant community spirit that makes Bedford so special.

A huge well done to all the organisers, volunteers, local businesses, and everyone involved in making this event such a success. Looking forward to next year already!

A huge thank you to Bedford Borough Council Highways Department for taking action to improve safety in the alleyway between Ryswick Road and the junction of Beatrice Street and Marin Street.

Following concerns raised by local residents, I requested that warning signs be installed to encourage cyclists and electric scooter riders to slow down while using the pathway. Residents had expressed serious concerns about the speed of some cyclists and electric scooters, which had made the alleyway dangerous for pedestrians, especially families with young children.

This pathway is regularly used by local residents, and it is important that everyone can walk through safely and confidently. I appreciate the council listening to the community’s concerns and responding positively to help make the area safer for both pedestrians and responsible cyclists.

Thank you once again to everyone involved in supporting this important safety improvement for our community.

A big thank you to Bedford Borough Council for resurfacing Eugster Avenue and the surrounding streets.

Councillor James Valentine and I have been requesting these improvements for at least a couple of years, so it is great to finally see the work completed for residents and the local community.
