📣 A landmark moment for bald representation
Yesterdays ruling recognising baldness as a disability is a huge moment — not just legally, but culturally.
For so long, bald people (especially women and children) have been told our experiences are “cosmetic”, “not serious”, or something we should simply get over. This ruling challenges that idea head-on. It recognises that baldness can affect how people are treated, perceived, and included — in workplaces, schools, healthcare, and everyday life.
Disability recognition isn’t about weakness.
It’s about rights, protection, and visibility.
For many in our community, this ruling means:
• greater legal protection from discrimination
• stronger grounds to ask for reasonable adjustments
• validation that our lived experiences matter
📻 This morning, just after 10am, I’ll be speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live with Nicky Campbell about what this ruling means — not just legally, but emotionally and socially for bald people across the UK.
At The Power of None, we’ve always said this conversation is bigger than hair. It’s about how society treats difference — and who gets taken seriously.
This ruling doesn’t end the stigma overnight.
But it does move the needle.
And we’re not done yet.
✨ Bald is valid.
✨ Difference deserves dignity.
✨ Representation changes everything.
