Consultation on fireworks in the Vale.
Fireworks: making sure the Vale’s voice is heard
Back in January, I asked residents across the Vale to share their views on fireworks and their impact locally. A few hundred people responded, giving a wide range of perspectives.
Since then, I’ve also spoken with residents, local police and fireworks display providers to better understand the different experiences and concerns around their use.
I’ve raised this issue several times with Kate Dearden MP, the Government Minister responsible for consumer protection and product safety. I met with her to share directly the range of views residents gave me through my local consultation, helping ensure the Vale’s experiences were part of the wider conversation in Government.
The Government has since launched its national consultation on fireworks and pyrotechnics, looking at issues including noise, safety and the regulation of higher-risk products.
If you have views, you can still take part before the consultation closes on 7 October 2026. And if you responded to my consultation earlier this year, please know that the views you shared will be included in my office’s response to the Government’s national consultation.
Thank you to everyone who has engaged so far. It’s important that the experiences of people across the Vale are represented as the Government considers what should happen next.
