Theresa Arnold & Andy Arnold - Councillors for Reform UK in Wombwell

Theresa Arnold & Andy Arnold - Councillors for Reform UK in Wombwell I’m a business owner from Wombwell who loves our town and surrounding areas. It’s time to put our communities first.

I want real change for Barnsley – not just the centre, but the satellite towns and hardworking people too often forgotten. Originally from Hemingfield, I moved to Hoyland in 1973 and lived on the infamous Cloughs estate. I attended Kirk Balk school where my favourite subjects were English, Rural Science and Art. I went on to study Graphic Design at Barnsley College of Art & Design and then went st

raight into full-time work. I moved to Wombwell in 2000 - I never really moved away from South Barnsley! Having had part-time jobs from 14 years old, I have always been in employment whether it be employed or self employed. Since 2009, I have owned Taattoo Wombwell, which employs a variety of local people and our services are used by our lovely community. I also have The Body Piercers which works alongside Taattoo Wombwell. A few years ago we opened up Taattoo Beauty Aesthetics which is the sister company to the other businesses. I love my local community especially being involved with the Ward Alliance and I'm also Chairperson of Wombwell Business Committee, where we put events on especially at Christmas to give something back to the place I call home.

Councillor Andy spent a couple of hours litter picking this afternoon around the pathways near Netherwood, the TPT and the canal.

There’s still a lot of work that needs doing:

🔹 Drains with weeds growing out of them – not much use when it comes to proper drainage.

🔹 Pathways becoming overgrown with brambles, making access difficult for walkers and cyclists.

🔹 Cut branches left behind, with litter trapped underneath and building up over time.

🔹 Far too many nitrous oxide canisters scattered around, many clearly thrown from passing vehicles. Drug driving is a serious issue and puts everyone at risk. 🤬

Our local green spaces should be places we can all enjoy and take pride in. There’s plenty more to do, but every bag of litter collected makes a difference. 🩵🩵🩵

Hopefully a peace deal has been reached 🤞🏻. The war involving Iran may finally be coming to an end, and the Strait of Hormuz could soon reopen.

When we were first elected, I received an email from a lovely resident on Wood Walk. (This used to be in our ward but is now in Hoyland Milton 🤷‍♀️.)

She let us know that one of the path signs was rotten and the writing had faded away, and that a communications box had been covered in graffiti.

Both issues were reported, and I’m pleased to say the job is now done! 👍🏻✔️

A big thank you to the resident for taking the time to report the problems, and to the workers at BMBC for getting everything sorted.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which ward an issue falls under. What matters is that we work together as a community to get things done and improve our local area for everyone. 😊

I’ve reported the condition of the library car park. As other car parks in Wombwell are currently being resurfaced and this one not. I’ll be looking into why it hasn’t yet been included.

In the meantime, please take extra care when driving through the car park, as some of the potholes are becoming quite deep.

I’ll provide an update as soon as I have more information. Thank you.
