Our CEO, Alyson Thomas, joined Jason Mohammad on BBC Radio Wales's The Phone-In yesterday to talk about people’s experiences of NHS care in Wales. 💙

Alyson highlighted the balance we hear every day at Llais - stories of compassionate, dedicated care from NHS staff, alongside growing concerns about the pressures services are facing.

She spoke about:
🏠 People wanting access to care closer to home and earlier support to help them stay well
⏳ The frustration many people feel while waiting for treatment or appointments
💬 The importance of clear communication and keeping people informed about their care
🤝 How much it matters for people to feel listened to, respected and treated with dignity

At the heart of what people tell us is a simple message: they want health and care services that see them as a whole person, not just a condition or appointment.

Our role at Llais is to make sure the voices and experiences of people across Wales are heard by the NHS and Welsh Government - helping shape services around what matters most to communities.

We have shared what people told us with those who provide them, helping to ensure that your voices shape future improvements.

🎬 Film Screening & Discussion: “This Too Will Pass: My Bipolar Life”

Join us at Y Ganolfan, Porthmadog for a powerful and honest short film exploring the realities of living with Bipolar.

“This Too Will Pass: My Bipolar Life” follows Chris Eastwood, offering a deeply personal insight into the highs, the crashes, the waiting, and the daily effort it takes to keep moving forward. There’s no dramatics or tidy ending—just real lived experience. It’s a story of patience, endurance, and quiet strength in the face of a condition that doesn’t switch off.

The title speaks to a truth many people hold onto — those intense moments, whether good or bad, will pass.

Following the screening, we’ll host a round table discussion to explore what living with mental health conditions is really like, and what good care looks like from the perspective of those with lived experience.

📅 Date: Wednesday 15 July 2026
🕥 Time: 10:30am
📍 Location: Y Ganolfan, Porthmadog, Gwynedd, LL49 9LU
