Ambulance NHS Trust

When a person/patient faces a medical or life threatening emergency, every second counts, a Community First Responder can make a vital difference

First Responders in the Aylsham area are trained volunteers who give up their spare time to be dispatched by Ambulance Control to certain 999 calls and provide on-scene emergency care to people in their own community

When a emergency 999 call is made, First Responders are alerted by ambulance control and are sent to certain types of calls at the same time as an ambulance so they can provide essential care until the Ambulance crew reaches the scene

The volunteers are trained by the East of England Ambulance Service and are able to administer first aid skills, oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of a defibrillator (AED)

Aylsham has a new Responder, her name is Chelsey.
Today was Chelsey‘s first shift since completing her initial training two weeks ago.
Being new to the area and with volunteering in her soul, she wanted to work with the ambulance service in the community.
After four months of training, she was given her equipment and today attended her first incident.
Chelsey said she was extremely nervous and frightened but once she saw the patient, the training kicked in and an ambulance backed her up and took the patient to hospital.

Well done and welcome to the team .

As part of our ongoing training the group have been joining student paramedic and former CFR Josh on ride outs 🚑 , giving us the opportunity to learn from his experience.
Josh, from Buxton, joined Aylsham CFRs at the start of the pandemic 😷 and after two years decided he wanted to do the job full-time. Since then, he's progressed through the ambulance service and is now training to become a Paramedic.
We're incredibly proud 🤩 of how far he's come, and grateful he still finds time to support our group as a trainer.
A lovely way to end the shift for Team Leader Paul, and Josh, when a rainbow came out to end the day. 🌈💚

May was a very busy month for the Aylsham and Holt group with our Team leader Paul attending 58 calls and other team members also finding themselves busy responding on behalf of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Today started off with the same intensity, we can only hope that June is a quieter month. If anyone is interested in joining our group please check the EEAST website page and look for Jobs-Volunteers.

Thank you:
The Aylsham and Holt Responders have been very busy this week attending multiple calls throughout the area and beyond. Today one of our volunteers was eating breakfast in Sizzlers Kitchen in Alby and got a call. On his return his meal had been paid for by a couple staying at Deers Glade in gratitude.
The kindness of people who support us is fantastic! have a very safe and healthy weekend to you all x
