Back in 2011, Buckinghamshire County Council withdrew financial support for Haddenham Community Library. Subsequently, the library became a community-run service and received a set-up grant from the local authority.

As this original grant depletes each year, the Parish Council increases its financial contribution to the Community Library to ensure its valued service continues. At the Full Council meeting on 10th August 2026, it was again agreed again to increase funding.

The Parish Councilโ€™s support for the Library has also been supplemented by local fundraising, particularly through the annual Haddenham Beer Festival, which has helped provide additional funding for the service.

Haddenham Parish Council were delighted to welcome over 60 children to the Youth Club Summer Camps this year.

Building on the success of last yearโ€™s programme, the camps were extended to two dates, giving children even more opportunities to have fun, make new friends and try something different. A fantastic range of activities was organised, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. The children also enjoyed delicious refreshments and plenty of time to socialise and relax.

The Parish Council would like to thank everyone involved in making the camps such a great success and looks forward to welcoming everyone back next year.

Correspondence from Thames Valley Police:

This is final opportunity to share your views on the Government's proposal to merge police forces across England and Wales.

The government is currently carrying out an Independent Review of Police Force Structures, having confirmed its intention to merge the current 43 forces across England and Wales into larger regional forces as part of reforms.

We donโ€™t yet know what this means for Thames Valley Police as it will be dependent on the outcome of the review.

However, if forces are reduced to 12 regional forces Thames Valley could become part of a larger regional South East force.

Please take a few minutes to share your views - the survey will close at 12pm (noon) on Friday 4 September 2026.

If you live along the course of the Haddenham Stream, you will have received a letter from us. The purpose of the letter is to inform residents that a consultant has been appointed to assess Haddenham's stream and locate any 'pinch points' that could cause future flooding.

The assessment will be undertaken in two forms:
1) A physical survey of the stream itself.
2) The use of CCTV to inspect areas where the stream is culverted.

For this assessment to take place, the consultant will require access to gardens and other private land where the stream flows through or borders. If you have any issues, please email [email protected] .

While the relevant landowner is responsible for maintaining their section of the Haddenham Stream, we hope a collaborative approach minimises the risk and impact of future flooding, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

Relatedly, the Parish Council has continued to press Buckinghamshire Councilโ€™s Flood Management Group for the publication of its Section 19 report (a public investigation into a significant flood event, required by Section 19 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010) into the flooding Haddenham experienced in 2024 and 2025. We have been told that a change in personnel within the department has delayed publication of the report.

- Struggling with housing in Haddenham?
- Priced out of staying local?
- Need a larger home but canโ€™t find one you can afford?
- Trying to get on the property ladder?
- Looking to downsize but options are limited?

Haddenham Parish Council is gathering views to understand local housing needs and explore whether a Community Land Trust could help.

A Community Land Trust is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation that provides homes for local people according to local needs, keeping them affordable in the long term.

Your input matters โ€” the more responses we receive, the clearer the picture of what housing is needed and whether this approach is right for Haddenham.
