Its been a very busy summer for Warwickshire, and Atherstone is no exception!

From wild fires in the blistering heat, to rescuing animals from water, the jobs have been varied and challenging for our crews. 🚒

A huge thank you all the farmers and members of our community who assisted us, and kept us fed and watered on numerous occasions. Your help is much appreciated by our crews! 😊 🙌

🔥𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿:

There are still some dry spells ahead and the ground has not fully recovered.
Please avoid having bonfires and disposable BBQs until we have had significantly more rainfall.

5:00pm Thursday 13 August. Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have declared a major incident due to a large fire in Salford Priors. There is a large emergency presence in the area and we continue to advise residents nearby to close all doors and windows. Please stay away from the area. Our control room is receiving a large number of calls, so please contact us only in a genuine emergency.
It's imperative that residents take all steps to reduce any fire risk. Please read advice on our social media channels about fire and water safety. You can make all the difference.

Warwickshire is once again experiencing another heatwave with heat health warnings in place. During hot weather, water-related incidents increase and it's especially important to remind children and young people of the dangers of entering water, there are often hidden risks such as cold-water shock or currents.
Would your child know what to do if they found themselves in a dangerous situation? 🆘 Show them this video and teach them the ‘Float to Live' technique. It could save their life one day!

With the hot weather set to continue this week, the crew remind you about the dangers of wildfires 🔥😬

We will always be there if you need us, but you can help us attend the most critical incidents by reducing the risk of accidental wildfires.

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱! 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘆;

❌Avoid burning garden waste in this hot weather. Take it to your local tip instead or use a garden waste bin.
✅ Putting ci******es and matches 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗢𝗨𝗧. DO NOT throw them out of your vehicle.
❌Don't leave glass, bottles, or litter.
✅ Avoid using BBQs. But if you do use one, keep it off dry grass and away from plant life. Dispose of the cold ashes properly
❌Don't tackle large fires yourself.

🚒𝗔 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵!🔥

The crew at Atherstone Bravo Watch 🟩 have had a busy week with training, community engagement, and numerous call-outs!

𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀;

👨‍🏫 A water safety intervention program at Polesworth School
🚒A woodland fire at Atherstone Golf Course
🚒A garden fire spread to a conservatory in Polesworth
🚒 Assisting a person stuck in a Bathroom
👩‍🚒 And we still found time for ladder practice drills this morning, to keep our skills sharp for any further incidents.

𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 ;

👀 Take care near open water. It may look inviting but hidden dangers can lay beneath the surface.

Wildfire Warning ⚠️ With dry weather, wildfire risk is high.
Help protect our open spaces:
Fully extinguish ci******es and matches.
Take all litter home (especially glass)
We discourage the use of disposable BBQ’s but if you are using one keep them off dry grass and vegetation and dispose of ashes safely only when completely cold.
If you discover a fire, call 999 immediately.
