🎭CELEBRATING OUR LEADING PLAYERS🎭

What a lovely morning celebrating all the brilliant people at Leading Players! 🎉👏

It was a real pleasure, as Mayor of Atherstone, to attend their 2026 AGM , present the awards and celebrate so many achievements, big and small.

Huge congratulations to everyone and a big thank you to all the volunteers, families and supporters who help make Leading Players such a welcoming and positive part of our community.

A really special afternoon —full of fun , energy and smiles! 😊

Every year, we check the electoral register is up to date. We have sent a letter to every household in North Warwickshire to check that we’ve got the right information on the electoral register. Please follow the instructions on the letter so we can check our records are up to date.

Not all heroes wear capes meet some of Atherstone’s finest volunteers who have supported the most vulnerable of people in North Warwickshire over the last 9 years.

Supported by Sonya , Sally and staff volunteers at Edible Links have worked tirelessly supporting the most vulnerable of families and residents of North Warwickshire feeding thousands of families over the years.

Working in partnership with various organisations such as ourselves they have supported operation Plenty ensuring families had Christmas hampers delivered to homes on Christmas Eve .

Despite staff always being run off their feet officers have often turned up unannounced in search of food hampers for vulnerable people.

The team have always been welcoming , humorous and always ready to have a laugh whilst going out of their way to arrange food parcels straight away.

So it is with great sadness after 23 years of feeding the County of Warwickshire the charity will be closing its food banks.

We thank you for all your hard work and support you have given over the years to North Warwickshire and the SNT.

Lovely to meet Craig & Sharon new market stall traders Green Grass in Market Square selling plants.

Atherstone is looking great with new businesses opening in the town which is very busy today.

📢 Atherstone Town Council responds to the Local Plan consultation

Atherstone Town Council has formally responded to North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Draft Local Plan consultation, putting forward the Council’s views on behalf of Atherstone and highlighting the issues we believe matter most to our residents.

Our response welcomes the stronger focus on the River Anker, green infrastructure, biodiversity, walking and cycling, but calls for the Plan to go further and turn these ambitions into real improvements for the town.

We are asking for:

🌳 Greater protection for Atherstone’s important green, recreational and civic spaces
🚶‍♂️ Better walking, cycling and accessible routes, including stronger links through the River Anker corridor
🌿 Future development and Biodiversity Net Gain funding to help deliver the River Anker project
💷 Developer contributions to be invested in practical local infrastructure such as paths, bridges and crossings
⚽ Atherstone Football Ground to be removed from consideration for future housing development and protected for community and recreational use

The Council wants to ensure that future development brings real and lasting benefits for Atherstone residents, helping create a greener, better connected and more sustainable town.
