Good Relations

Good Relations For Good Relations to be at the heart of a vibrant City and District

Armagh City and District Council has been a participant in the District Councils’ Community Relations Programme for over 20 years. During that time the understanding of community relations has expanded to mean much more than the promotion of positive relations within and between communities of differing religious and political backgrounds. Since 2000 the definition has expanded to include the wide

r role of Council as an advocate for the promotion of good relations; that is the promotion of good relations within and between people regardless of their religious, political or racial background. During the past number of years Armagh Council’s Good Relations Programme has revised its approach in order to deliver good relations capacity building to members of the public and to children in local schools and local communities. A recent audit of the programme commends Council on its innovative work in this regard and Council intend further developing its capacity building programme in the coming years in order to embed throughout the community the capacity to address and challenge sectarianism and racism.
