Hare Hill reveals itself first through the wide expanse of historic parkland, with views across the Cheshire sandstone escarpment towards urban Manchester. As you explore further, you enter an atmospheric woodland of twists and turns, offering hidden surprises: a wooden hare, a vibrant rhododendron, the call of a hidden bird, the stillness of a pond where you can rest, and dream...
Finally, you a

rrive at the heart of this delightful place: the gates open up into the world of Colonel Brocklehurst's white walled garden, offering a friendly and relaxing oasis of tranquility. A place for reflection, discovery and play; a place to return to time and again.

👉The historic bridges over the ponds at Hare Hill, have become a tad wobbly, so are closed for the time being until restoration repairs can take place.

🔨The bridges were built possibly in the early 1900s, when the Brocklehurst family owned the gardens, and later restored in the late 1970s by the National Trust. Over 50 years later, wear and tear has taken its toll and they require some much needed TLC.

👀Watch this space for updates and work progress when the restoration repairs begin.

🌿Every single visit, pre-loved book bought, ice cream scoffed and memory made at Hare Hill, directly helps to support restoration work like this - thank you 🙏

🐝Wisteria Hysteria in full swing in Hare Hill gardens but not today, step aside wistful wisteria, today the bees are taking centre stage. is a chance for everyone to show their appreciation for these precious pollinators; and it just so happens that the self-led trail in the gardens, is completely inspired by all things bees.

🐝Fact drop: over 75% of the world's crops (that yummy stuff on your plate) are pollinated by bees. Busy little bees all over the world are slurping nectar from flowers, the pollen gets stuck to their hairy bodies and is moved on to another flower - helping the plant to make seeds.

🐝Discover more about these wondrous wildlife workers over in the gardens, and see what the buzz is all about.

📌Self-led trail starts Sat 23 May 10.30am - look out for the handy hint boards. Normal admission charges apply - head to the Welcome Building first to get your visit started.

🌸The blousy, blush colours in Hare Hill gardens, perfectly captured in a collage by visitor

🌺Packing a punch of pink and purple round every corner, the rhododendrons are really having their moment in the sun.

🪏Many of the joyous rhododendrons you see today, were added by expert plantsman and garden designer, James Russell, during the mid 1900s. James worked closely with the last of the Brocklehurst family, Charles, to create the historical gardens that we see today.

🌿With your support, we can continue to make their visions and hopes for the garden a reality, giving nature and people a pocket of peace away from the hustle and bustle.
