Every two years, the EYE (European Youth Event) brings togeth

er thousands of young people from across the European Union and beyond, right at the heart of European democracy. The EYE is a unique opportunity for 16- to 30 year-olds to inspire and get inspired, to debate directly with Members of the European Parliament and other European decision-makers, and to exchange views with experts, activists and content creators. . Young Europeans aren’t quiet. They’re thinking about the future they want to build.

A future where moving out does not feel impossible, where finding a job is not a struggle and where climate change is not ignored.

In the European Parliament Youth Survey 2024, cost of living came first (40%) 💶, followed by climate and the environment (33%) 🌱 and jobs and the economy (31%) 💼. Healthcare 🏥, education 👩‍🎓 and housing 🏠 are close behind.

That is what’s on their minds. And it deserves to be on the agenda!

Every September, the EU has its “okay, so what’s the plan?” moment. 🤔

The Commission President takes the floor to say what the EU wants to fix, change and focus on next.

Then Parliament asks the follow-up questions: Is that enough? What about housing, jobs, climate, the cost of living? And who is being left out? ☝️

On 16 September, those plans get put to the test at the State of the European Union debate. 🇪🇺👩‍⚖️
