The Success of the 7th General Election Is a Great National Victory That Confirmed Ethiopia’s Triumph
A significant and undeniable truth has been demonstrated before the Ethiopian people and the international community: the foremost winner of Ethiopia’s historic 7th General Election is Ethiopia itself.
This election was more than a political contest or routine event. It became a historic milestone that strengthened Ethiopia’s sovereignty, reinforced democratic institutions, and laid a solid foundation for the country’s future prosperity. Conducted through Ethiopia’s own capabilities despite internal and external challenges, the election showcased institutional strength, homegrown democracy, and national sovereignty.
The strategic leadership and political commitment demonstrated by the Prosperity Party and the government played a notable role in this achievement. The party contributed by preparing election plans, supporting the overall process, and continuously evaluating implementation to ensure a successful outcome. It is also actively guiding post-election activities through a clear roadmap.
The government, led by the Prosperity Party, expanded political space and worked to ensure that the election was peaceful, free, fair, and credible. By combining democratic practices with development, good governance, and peace-building efforts, it demonstrated respect for the people’s voice and sovereign will. This helped foster broad public participation while preventing attempts by disruptive forces to undermine the process.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the election was the registration of more than 54 million voters, 46 percent of whom were women. This reflects the growing political engagement of Ethiopian citizens. In addition, 42 political parties and more than 10,000 candidates participated freely, giving voters a wide range of choices regarding the country’s future leadership. The public confidence displayed throughout the country reaffirmed Ethiopians’ strong belief in democratic means of determining their future.
The overall success of the election represents a major national victory for Ethiopia. The Prosperity Party expresses its appreciation to all institutions that contributed to the success of this democratic process. It particularly commends the National Election Board of Ethiopia for its professionalism and neutrality, competing political parties for their responsible participation, and federal and regional security forces for ensuring a secure environment that allowed citizens to vote freely.
The party also extends its gratitude to its members, leaders, supporters, and patriotic citizens. It appreciates observer missions and regional organizations such as African Union and Intergovernmental Authority on Development for their contributions and observations. International partners and media organizations that expressed positive assessments of the election are likewise thanked for their recognition.
As stated by Vice President Adem Farah during the party’s election performance review meeting in Jijiga, the greatest gratitude belongs to the Ethiopian people. Through patience, discipline, and commitment, citizens waited in long queues and cast their votes peacefully, making the election a success and demonstrating their dedication to democracy and the nation’s future.
Overall, the 7th General Election demonstrated Ethiopia’s ability to overcome challenges, safeguard its sovereignty, strengthen its institutions, and continue advancing as a significant nation in Africa and on the global stage.
