የጤና ሚኒስቴር ከጤናው መረጃ ሥርዓት አጋሮች ጋር በመተባበር ለአምስተኛ ጊዜ በሚያከብረው "ሀገር አቀፍ የጤና መረጃና ዲጂታል ሳምንት" ላይ እንድንገኝና ላበረከትነው የላቀ አስተዋጽኦ እውቅና እንድንቀበል በመጋበዛችን ትልቅ ኩራት ይሰማናል።
የጎንደር ዩኒቨርሲቲ በአገር አቀፍ ደረጃ የ Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (CBMP) አባል ዩኒቨርሲቲዎችን (አዲስ አበባ፣ መቀሌ፣ ሐሮማያ፣ ጅማ እና ሐዋሳ) በማስተባበር በጤና መረጃ አያያዝ፣ ጥራትና አጠቃቀም ላይ ላለፉት ስምንት ዓመታት በቁርጠኝነት ሲሠራ ቆይቷል።
ዩኒቨርሲቲያችን በዚህ ዘርፍ ካከናወናቸው አበይት ተግባራት መካከል ጥቂቶቹ፡-
1. ፈር-ቀዳጅነት፦
በአገራችን የመጀመሪያውን የጤና መረጃ አያያዝ ፕሮግራም (BSc, MPH and PhD in Health Informatics) የከፈተ መሆኑ።
2. የሰው ኃይል ልማት፦
በአሁኑ ሰዓት እስከ ሦስተኛ ዲግሪ (PhD) እና ፖስትዶክተራል ፕሮግራም በማሰልጠን ለአገራችን የጤና መረጃ ሥርዓት የሚፈለገውን የሰው ኃይል በማፍራትና በምርምር ዘርፍ ጉልህ ሚና መጫወቱ።
3. ተግባራዊ ተፅዕኖ፦
የጤና መረጃ አብዮት (Information Revolution) ሞዴል የሆኑ ጤና ጣቢያዎችንና ሆስፒታሎችን በማፍራት ረገድ የበኩሉን አስተዋጽኦ እያበረከተ መሆኑ።
4. ተሞክሮ ማጋራት፦
ምርጥ ተሞክሮዎችን በመቀመርና በማጋራት በጤና ሥርዓቱ ውስጥ የአካዳሚክ ባለሙያዎችን ተሳትፎ በማጠናከር የላቀ ውጤት ማስመዝገቡ እና ሌሎች ተግባራት ይገኙበታል።
እነዚህን ሁሉ ሥራወች ዩኒቨርሲቲያችን የድጅታል ጤና እና አተገባባር ሳይንስ (Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science- CDHI) የተባለ የልህቀት ማዕከል በመክፈት በሀገር አቀፍ፣ በአፍሪካ እንዲሁም በዓለምአቀፍ ደረጃ ትልልቅ ሥራዎችን በመሥራት ላይ እንገኛለን።
ይህ እውቅና የዚህ ማዕከልና የዩኒቨርሲቲያችን ማህበረሰብ የጋራ ጥረት ውጤት ነው። የጤና ሚኒስቴር ለሥራችን እያደረገልን ላለው ያልተቋረጠ እገዛና ዛሬ ከኢፌዴሪ ጤና ሚንስቴር ሚንስትር ክብርት ዶ/ር መቅደስ ዳባ በግልና በተቋም ደረጃ ለሰጠን እውቅና በራሴና በዩኒቨርሲቲያችን ማህበረሰብ ስም ላቅ ያለ ምስጋና አቀርባለሁ።
እንዲሁም ዛሬ ሞዴል በመሆን በሀገር አቀፍ ደረጃ እውቅና ለተሰጣቸው 11 ተቋማትና በአማራ ክልል የሚገኙ ዩኒቨርስቲያችን ቀጥታ ድጋፍ ያደረገላቸው የጎንደር እና ባህርዳር ከተማ አስተዳደር ጤና መምሪያዎች እንኳን ደስ አላችሁ ማለት እወዳለሁ።
በቀጣይም በጤናው ዘርፍ የሚታዩ ችግሮችን በዲጂታል ቴክኖሎጂና በመረጃ በመደገፍ የበለጸገች ሀገር ለመገንባት በበኩላችን የምናደርገውን ጥረት አጠናክረን እንቀጥላለን!
የጤና መረጃ ለተሻለ ውሳኔ፣ ዲጂታል ጤና ለላቀ አገልግሎት!
ከታሪክ ማህደር፡-
የዩኒቨርሲቲያችን መሠረት የሆነው የጎንደር ሕብረተሰብ ጤና አጠባበቅ ኮሌጅና ማሰልጠኛ ተቋም መስከረም 24 ቀን 1947 ዓ.ም ሲመሠረት ተጠሪነቱ በአገር ግዛት ሚኒስቴር ሥር ነበር። ይሁን እንጂ በ1948 ዓ.ም ማንኛውም የጤና ነክ ትምህርት በጤና ጥበቃ ሚኒስቴር ስር እንዲተዳደር በመወሰኑ፣ ተቋማችን እስከ 1953 ዓ.ም ድረስ ለስድስት ዓመታት ያህል በሚኒስቴር መሥሪያ ቤቱ ሲተዳደር የነበረ የረጅም ዘመን የጋራ ታሪክና ትስስር ያለው ነው።

We're immensely proud to be invited to the 5th National Health Information and Digital Week, organized by the Ministry of Health,Ethiopia in collaboration with health information system partners, and to receive recognition for our outstanding contributions.
For the past eight years, the University of Gondar has worked with steadfast commitment on health information management, quality, and utilization. We've led this effort by coordinating member universities of the national Capacity Building and Mentorship Program (CBMP), including Addis Ababa University, Mekelle University, Haramaya University, Jimma University, and Hawassa University.
Key milestones achieved by our university in this sector include:
1. Pioneering Leadership:
Establishing the country’s first health information management programs (BSc, MPH, and PhD in Health Informatics).
2. Human Resource Development:
Playing a vital role in research and producing the necessary skilled workforce for the national health information system by training professionals up to the PhD and Postdoctoral levels.
3. Practical Impact:
Contributing to the development of health centers and hospitals that serve as models for the Information Revolution.
4. Knowledge Sharing:
Achieving excellence by synthesizing and sharing best practices and strengthening the involvement of academic professionals within the health system.
To spearhead these initiatives, our university established a center of excellence, the Center for Digital Health and Implementation Science (CDHI). Through this center, we are executing significant projects at national, continental, and international levels.
This recognition is a result of the collective efforts of the CDHI and the entire university community.
On behalf of myself and the University of Gondar, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Health for its continuous support and to Her Excellency Dr Mekdes Daba, Minister of Health, Ministry of Health of the FDRE, for the recognition bestowed upon me personally and our institution today.
Furthermore, I wish to congratulate the 11 institutions recognized nationally as models, as well as the Health Departments of Gondar and Bahir Dar City Administrations, which received direct support from our university within the Amhara Region.
Moving forward, we will strengthen our efforts to support the health sector through digital technology and data driven insights to contribute our part toward building a prosperous nation!

The Public Health College and Training Center, the foundation of our university, was established on October 4, 1954 under the Ministry of Interior. However, in 1955, it was decided that all health related education should be administered by the Ministry of Public Health. Consequently, our institution was managed by the Ministry for six years until 1961, marking a long history of partnership and connection.
