An enjoyable day in the local Parc Natural dels Ports yesterday with regular visitor Robin Pollard from Ireland 🇮🇪.

Robin was looking for a few hillside warblers to add to his life list, and we managed fabulous views of 3 of his targets - Western Orphean Warbler, Melodious Warbler and Western Bonelli's Warbler.

The top raptor view was of a pale morph Booted Eagle, working low over a cliff early morning 🦅

Spring encounters with the Eurasian Wryneck during our & excursions in 2026. This species is present in various habitats containing woodland, and is easiest to locate in the early part of the spring (late March / April) when its instantly recognisable call is heard most often following their arrival.

The under stated Spotted Flycatcher provided a welcome distraction on one of our Bee-eater photo sessions during the spring season. Constantly jumping on and off the perches to grab prey, this tiny and fast moving subject provided multiple opportunities to try out the pre-capture mode on the R5ii - which handled the sequences admirably at shutter speed of 1/4000 sec 📷💥

Eurasian Penduline Tit, a tiny and loveable bird that we encounter frequently around the Ebro Delta and particularly on our boat tour of the lower Ebro River. This bird loves the habitat of the river bank, which offer extensive reed beds along with trees and bushes in which they will construct their elaborate nest.

Spectacular moments during this year's spring & tours from the dry land routes around the city of Lleida and the nearby zone. In these remote areas we have enjoyed magnificent views of many incredible birds.

Featured in this montage: Hoopoe, Golden Eagle, Little Bustard, Roller, Stone-curlew, Great Spotted Cuckoo, Black Wheatear, Eagle-Owl, Black-eared Wheatear and Red-legged Partridge.
