Day trip 🚗💨

Today we drove all the Way to Almeria. In Tabernas, you’ll find the only desert in Europe. It is amazing how the landscape in Spain is changing. The closer we got to Almeria, the more it looked like we were driving through the US.

This spot was Hollywoods film paradise for two intense decades, back in the 60’s and the 70’s. All outdoor scenes in Western movies like “A fistful of dollars” with actors like Clint Eastwood was filmed here in Almeria, Spain.

Now the scenes are turned into a theme park for tourists called ”mini Hollywood”.

We had a very good and interesting day there. It was exciting to walk through the western town.

The theme park also have a cinema museum, a lovely zoo, cactus garden etc. Worth the trip🤩👏🏼

Another spanish village with a lot of history - COMARES… ⠀

Today we had a family trip to Comares. ⠀

Comares is a small village not far from Riogordo where we live. It is located in the foothills of montes de Malaga 703 meters above sea level. ⠀

The Streets in the village is not build for Cars, so we walked around and parked the car outside the village. Very cozy and the most amazing view points 😍 ⠀

Family Day trip to Frigiliana ☀️⠀

Today we had an amazing Day and we really enjoyed to spent the day together as a family🥰 ⠀

We decided to go to Frigiliana. The village is around 1 hour drive away from our home. We heard so much nice about that place, that we just had to visit the village and experience it ourselves🤩 And there is only one thing to say; What a beautiful and cozy village😍😍 we fell in love🥰 And the views from there - Heavenly 😍 The ocean and the mountains come together👏🏼🤩🥰⠀

Let the photos speak for themselves 🤗❤️👏🏼 ⠀

*By the way - Frigiliana has been repeatedly named Spain's most beautiful and best-preserved village

CARNAVAL in Riogordo 💃🥳🤡🦹🏼‍♀️🦸🏻‍♂️⠀

For the first time today, since we moved here, we went Down to the village to join one of the parties that our little community did arrange.⠀

And I must say, they did not disappoint. They build a stage for the Dj and you could buy drinks (beer, cola etc.) a small bouncy castle for the kids and free balloons. The locals really support arrangements like this. (I never saw so many people in Riogordo before - do they all live here?😂)⠀

People dressed out for the carnival and not only kids. Many adults were really passionated about it too 😄👏🏼 we have seen many creative costumes today🤩⠀

They made this parade from the school down to the plaza and you could really see that they all enjoyed it. ⠀

We met with some friends, so that was really nice and the kids did enjoy it as well🥰 BUT Jaxx was so so tired, so after 1,5 hour we had to go home, but we can say we have been there💪🏽😄⠀

Well done Riogordo 👏🏼💃🥳 - see you next year. WHO knows, maybe we will dress out as well🙆🏼‍♀️🤪😂

Today they celebrated Dia de Andalucia in Jaxx’ kindergarten. So the dress code for the boys today where jeans with a White shirt and some Andalusian accessories - therefor the green straps 🤪 ⠀

The school always do so much about the decorations and today was not an exception🥳🤩 ⠀

Dia de Andalucia is celebrated on 28 February, but as it is a holiday everything will be closed on Monday. Therefor the schools were celebrating that day today💃 The kids got the traditional breakfast consisting of white bread with olive oil. 🥖🫒⠀

🌐The Spanish people celebrates the referendum from 28 February 1980 on autonomous statutes of Andalusia, where Andalusian voters voted for the statute that made Andalusia an autonomous community in Spain.⠀

2 years ago we visit El Torcal. Breathe taking views🤩 it deserves to be shared again and hopefully some of you will go visit this place if you ever come to Malaga🤞🏼 ⠀

Some History behind El Torcal: ⠀

The Torcal de Antequera is characterised by a stunning Karst landscape, known as a terrain that spent more than 200 million years submerged by the sea. The collision of two tectonic plates caused the local land to emerge from beneath the water in a slow process, which brings about valuable fossils. Over the years, meteorological agents, including water, ice and wind have all helped to shape this limestone into a spectacular landscape.⠀

All of these forces have combined to form structures known as “mushrooms” for the characteristic shape of rocks in the Torcal, with a wide top supported by a thin base. The result is a stunning view and an absolute treasure for nature photography lovers. ⠀

El Torcal also has a thousand caves and chasms. Places of special interest for lovers of caving, history of mankind and nature.⠀

Numerous species of vertebrate animals also inhabit El Torcal de Antequera. These include birds such as the golden eagle or the griffon vulture. (*We actually saw the eagles eating their prey, when we visit this place) ⠀

Be aware that you need to buy a ticket to go here. I think we went early in the morning and bought the tickets there and we just walked around on our own, but if you rather like to visit this place with a guide in a small group I can recommend to buy your tickets through “GetYourGuide” (download this app and order your tickets). ⠀

Have fun exploring Andalusia 🤩👏🏼☀️

Today we went for a little trip to Torre del Mar☀️🌴 ⠀

We all needed to get out a bit, so a fast drive to Torre del Mar was perfect. A walk at the beach awaits give us a small feeling of holiday vibes😍☀️🌴 ⠀

Besides that it was market day and we never really visit one of these markets down here, so today was the day. 🤗 ⠀

At the market you can almost buy everything; fruits, vegetables, sweets, spices, flowers & plants, clothes… you name it. Many good offers. So if you ever visit Spain and you like local stuff, the market is a good place to go😀😘 ⠀
