Energy Isolation and Tagging System (Lockout/Tag out)
This system is designed to isolate
energy sources and tag them to prevent
accidental activation of equipment
during maintenance, thereby avoiding
accidents. This system is implemented
by a designated competent person
before maintenance procedures begin.
The equipment may not be re-energized
except by this same person.
Safety Lock (Personal Lock)
A safety lock is a type of lock with a single key. The person
responsible for the isolation procedure uses this lock to secure
energy sources. The key is then placed in a
lockbox. Every individual involved in the
maintenance of that equipment then applies
their personal safety lock to the lockbox.
These individuals are the only ones permitted
to remove their locks upon completion of the
maintenance, allowing the lockbox to be opened and the key
retrieved by the responsible person to re-energize the
equipment

Its core importance lies in enhancing the well-being and health of workers, which positively impacts productivity and efficiency. This means that applying ergonomic principles effectively contributes to achieving a healthy and safe work environment, benefiting both employees and organizations.
Ergonomics aims to reduce physical strain and prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs), such as back and neck pain and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Ergonomic Risk Factors
Several factors increase the risk of musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace. These include:
* Awkward Postures: Such as excessive bending, twisting, or repetitive reaching.
* Repetitive Motions: Performing the same movement over and over, especially if it requires force.
* Excessive Force: Exerting significant muscular effort to lift, push, or carry objects.
* Vibration: Exposure to mechanical vibrations from tools or equipment.
* Extreme Temperatures: Working in very hot or cold environments can affect performance and increase the risk of injuries.
The postures adopted by workers while performing their tasks are classified into three main categories:
