معمل التشكيل الحضري هو مركز للتفكير النقدي والإبداعي، والتدريس، والبحث، ودعم الممارسة المهنية، في مجالات التشكيل العمراني، والدراسات العمرانية – ومقره: الدور الرابع، قسم العمارة، كلية الهندسة، جامعة القاهرة.
تأسس المعمل عام 2021 ، وتم دعمه بأجهزة حديثة متقدمة، لدعم العملية التعليمية والبحث العلمي، من خلال مشروع "تعزيز الكفاءات الخضراء الممول من الاتحاد الأوروبي رقم 101129466".

Urban Form Lab is a Service Laboratory and Centre for critical and creative thinking & practice in Architecture & Urbanism - at the 4th floor, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. The lab was established in 2021; recently developed and upgraded with advanced equipment and digital applications with the support of the European Union co-funded project Pro-GREEN-LABs 101129466.

على مدار ثلاثة أيام، خلال الفترة من ٣–٥ مايو ٢٠٢٦، نظم معمل التشكيل الحضري بعمارة القاهرة مقرر التعلّم المستمر بعنوان «الإحياء بالمجتمعات» (Community-Driven Revitalisation)، والذي تم تطويره في إطار مشروع تعزيز الكفاءات الخضراء Progreen Labs، المموّل بالشراكة مع الاتحاد الأوروبي.

استهدف المقرر شباب الممارسين والباحثين والمهتمين بقضايا الإحياء العمراني والمجتمعي، حيث أتاح مساحة للحوار وتبادل الخبرات حول الممارسات المعاصرة للإحياء القائم على المشاركة المجتمعية والاستدامة.

كما استضاف المقرر مجموعة من الخبراء والمتخصصين من خلفيات أكاديمية ومهنية متنوعة، من ضمنهم م. كريم إبراهيم، م. أجنيشكا دوبروفلسكا، د. مريم شاكر الذين أثروا النقاشات من خلال محاضراتهم وتجاربهم العملية، مما أتاح للمشاركين فرصة مميزة للتفاعل وتبادل الأفكار.

كل الشكر والتقدير للسيدات والسادة المحاضرين أ.م.د. داليا أبو بكر ود. أحمد الحسيني، والخبراء المشاركين، ولجميع الحضور والمشاركين الذين ساهموا في نجاح هذا الحدث العلمي والتدريبي المتميز.

Over the course of three days, from 3–5 May 2026, the Urban Form Lab at ArchCairo organised a Lifelong Learning Module entitled “Community-Driven Revitalisation”, developed within the framework of the Pro-GREEN-LABs project, co-funded by the European Union.

The module targeted young practitioners, researchers, and participants interested in community-based and urban revitalisation approaches, providing a platform for dialogue and exchange on contemporary practices of participatory and sustainable revitalisation.

The programme also featured the participation of several invited experts and specialists from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including Arch. Kareem Ibrahim, Arch. Arch. Agnieszka Dobrowolska, Assis. Prof. Mariam Shaker, who enriched the discussions through their lectures and practical experiences.

Our sincere thanks appreciation go to the course instructors, Assoc. Prof. Dalia AbouBakr , Dr. Ahmed El-Husseiny and to our guest speakers as well as to all participants whose contributions made this scientific and training event a great success.

Take a glimpse into our Cairo International School, “ WITH COMMUNITIES, FOR COMMUNITIES: REGENERATING AL-KHALIFA: Greening, Digitizing and Community Design,” organized by the Urban Form Lab, Department of Architectural Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, in coordination with the academic partners of Pro-Green LABs - an Erasmus + Project co-funded by the EU, and in collaboration with our non-academic partner Megawra | Built Environment Collective.

Held from 3 to 9 April 2026, the school brought together students from the Architectural Engineering Department, the Architectural Engineering and Technology Program, and the Double Master’s Program at Cairo University, alongside students from Alexandria University and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria.
Participants worked collaboratively to develop proposals addressing greening, digital documentation, and community design in Al-Khalifa.

يسرّ معمل التشكيل الحضري، قسم الهندسة المعمارية، كلية الهندسة – جامعة القاهرة، دعوة سيادتكم لحضور افتتاح مدرسة القاهرة الدولية "مع المجتمعات، وللمجتمعات: إحياء حيّ الخليفة - التَخضير، والرَّقمَنة، وتصميم المجتمعات"، التي ينظمها المعمل بالتعاون مع مجاورة - جمعية الفكر العمراني، ضمن فعليات مشروع «تعزيز الكفاءات الخضراء» (إيراسموس بلس – ممول من الاتحاد الأوروبي).

Call for Applications: Community-Driven Revitalisation Lifelong Learning Module

The Urban Form Lab is pleased to announce a call for applications for the lifelong learning module “Community-Driven Revitalisation.” This module is part of the Pro-GREEN-LABs project, an Erasmus+ Capacity Building initiative co-funded by the European Union.

This intensive three-day course is designed for architects, urban designers, urban planners, young professionals, postgraduate students, and practitioners interested in community-led approaches to urban development.

The course will be held from 3–5 May 2026 and is free of charge; however, places are limited.

Teaching will be led by Associate Professor Dalia Abou Bakr and Dr. Ahmed El Husseiny, with additional contributions from invited practitioners specializing in community participation.
