📖 Day 1 of Proverbs Nuggets
Proverbs 1:8-9 (NLT)
"My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don't neglect your mother's instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck."
What stood out to me was this: "Listen when your father corrects you, and don't neglect your mother's instruction."
God places parents in our lives to guide, instruct, and correct us. Many parents teach from what they have learned and experienced throughout life. While we are called to honor our parents, we must also weigh every instruction through the lens of God's Word.
This is where the Holy Spirit helps us. He gives us wisdom and enables us to see life from God's perspective. The Scriptures tell us to honor our father and mother, and in doing so, we walk in a path that pleases God.
Verse 9 says that what we learn will crown us with grace and honor. Even if we did not grow up with godly examples, God's Spirit can shape our lives differently and make us a godly influence to others.
We cannot afford to live recklessly or make life decisions based only on personal desires. Whether it is marriage, relationships, or major life choices, our decisions should flow from alignment with God's Word and His will.
Don't rush into marriage because of pressure, loneliness, or self-glorification. Let Christ be glorified in your choices. A godly marriage is not built merely on feelings but on submission to Christ.
May we be people who receive wisdom, walk in obedience, and allow God's Spirit to guide our paths.
Shalom, Shalom. 🤍
