Last week Gerard Cortese and I went on a side quest to Normandy, France where we assisted in the clean up of the 29th Infantry Division Monument & Memorial Garden at La Pont de la Pierre, Saint Claire sur Elle. This is a position where my Grandfather, CPL Robert Branin fought through with the 29th Infantry Division, 115th Infantry Regiment, Cannon Company. Gerard and I try to make this pilgrimage every year.

Life is full of moments!

This one was very special with a very special group of soldiers singing in Romanian. We make connections, bridge gaps, and open hearts with our music.

"On Lake Champlain"

At special request, I had the honor of singing this tune at "Celebratory Gathering" at the Valcour Inn & Boathouse. This event commemorates the Battle of Plattesburg and featured local artists, musicians, and dancers.

On a recent work trip, I was given enough time to visit the 9/11 memorial. I wanted to pay proper respects, but my body said no... It was too heavy and too familiar. I had to leave.

I watched it happen in real time. I saw the dust and I remember the smell. I remember the prick of the needle while giving blood. I remember being told that I couldn't cross in to NYC to help! I remember the overwhelming sense of helplessness.

I remember watching from the bluffs in NJ as the towers smoked... My heart still aches for that day...
