During the , the 🇵🇭Philippines joined 89 Member States including 🇯🇴Jordan, 🇧🇷Brazil, 🇨🇳China, 🇫🇷France, 🇰🇿Kazakhstan, 🇿🇦South Africa, as well as the 🇪🇺European Union and the International Committee on the Red Cross, for a media stakeout in support of the Global Initiative to Galvanize Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law , to spare civilians and civilian infrastructure in armed conflict.

The 🇵🇭Philippines co-chairs Workstream 2, together with 🇩🇪Germany, 🇵🇪Peru, and the 🇬🇧United Kingdom, focusing on the creation of National Committees, and actively contributes to other workstreams under the Global Initiative on .

Hudhud Live in Berlin

Where the Cordillera people flourish, the enchanting living oral tradition of Hudhud chants of the Ifugao community thrive!

Watch the members of the Cordillera Germany Organization perform a Hudhud chant, on the triumph of love and peace, at the Embassy’s UPLIFT event, "Archipelago Alive: Early German-Philippine Connection through Ethnology" last week.

Hudhud was proclaimed by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” in 2001, and was later inscribed on the “Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” in 2008. The chants, which honor ancestral heroes, the myths and values and the seasons of life and community, are woven in the communal life of the Ifugao. The Hudhud is composed of more than 200 distinct chants, with each chant divided into 40 episodes, and is performed without any musical instruments, sometimes continuously for several days.
