Local modern ski resorts, spas, and wellness centres are a great reason to visit the Olomouc Region.
The Olomouc Region offers a unique combination of Jeseníky Mountain scenery, modern ski resorts and a rich variety of spa and wellness centres, which make a wonderful tourist destination for leisure and unique treatments.
The Olomouc Region is home to the Jeseníky Mountains, whose excellent snow conditions and a large number of ski resorts attract downhill skiing enthusiasts each winter. The mountain range offers excellent conditions for families with children, beginners, advanced skiers, and snowboarders. This season visitors can look forward to new slopes, chair lifts and a dense network of cross-country trails.
The modern Ski Resort in Kouty nad Desnou slopes of varying difficulty. New this season is a blue slope over three kilometres long primarily designed for families with children. The resort also has a six-seat chairlift, a total of 11.5 km of ski slopes, and two freeride zones, a paradise for both freeride skiers and snowboarders.
At the Červenohorské Sedlo Resort, skiers can choose from slopes of varying difficulty, complete with high-quality facilities and accommodation. A new children's park opens this year, and the Červenohorské Sedlo Resort is also an ideal starting point for cross-country skiers. Dozens of kilometres of groomed cross-country trails are ready for you around Paprsek in the beautiful setting of the Rychleby Mountains. The area also features the longest and largest snow park in Moravia and a ski school.
Families with children can also head to the Kraličák Ski Resort with its ski lifts and slopes for all categories of skiers and snowboarders. Local trails are appreciated by cross-country skiers, who may also head for the popular Jeseníky arterial. Excellent skiing conditions with high quality facilities and services are also available at other ski resorts in Přemyslov, Petříkov, Ramzová and Ostružná.
Tourists who visit Jeseníky in the winter are combining sports activities with relaxation with increasing regularity. The range of spa and wellness services is indeed very broad. The town of Jeseník has the oldest hydrotherapy spa in the world, the Priessnitz Spa. Visitors can try the local unique treatments and take advantage of the only spa in the Czech Republic with an ice rink; they can also experience a dog sled ride, a snowshoe trip or a snowmobile ride. Located nearby is a ski slope and a number of groomed cross-country trails.
Backed by a long tradition, the Velké Losiny thermal spa is a highly popular destination. The local sulphur springs with temperatures of around 36 °C are used for medicinal baths and relaxation treatments. The town is also renowned for excellent cuisine and comfortable accommodation. Tourists seek leisure in the local wellness centres set in a beautiful mountain landscape with a wide range of services and relaxation stays.
The Olomouc Region also offers unique sights and interesting museums. Most of these are in the city of Olomouc: the Holy Trinity Column – a UNESCO monument, the Baroque fountains, St. Wenceslas Cathedral and the mausoleum of bishops, the Archdiocesan Museum with extensive collections, and the only seat of a current bishop that is open to public in Central Europe, the Archbishop's Palace. With an outstanding festive atmosphere, the Christmas market in Olomouc offers traditional handicrafts, delicious culinary specialties and the popular mulled wine. Take advantage of special three-day Advent stays available in Olomouc until 22 December.
