Finnish artist Kalle Nio, together with choreographer Fernando Melo, conclude the Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival with their performance TEMPO on Sunday 21 June.

The performance explores time and the sensation of time while combining dance, theatre and stage illusion on stage.

Hyvää juhannusta! Glad midsommar! Happy Midsummer!💐✨

Midsummer is the celebration of summer solstice and one of the most important holidays in Finland. Finns celebrate traditionally by heading to their summer cottages, away from the city, and spend time together with friends and family. Bonfire, midsummer sauna and swimming in the lake are part of the festivities as well. 🌿🏊‍♂️

Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day are the longest days of sunlight in the year, which means that the sun practically does not set at all. It is the ideal time to enjoy everything Finnish summer has to offer.☀️🍓

We are proud to have been part of this wonderful children's literary project together with Embassy of Sweden in Nicosia, Υπουργείο Παιδείας, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας and CYBBY - Cyprus IBBY - Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Παιδικού Νεανικού Βιβλίου!

Children from more than 30 primary schools all around Cyprus participated the competition with creative artworks and stories reflecting the values of Moomins and Pippi Longstocking. The winning schools were awarded with cozy reading corners including books of the inspiring adventures of Moomins 🇫🇮 and Pippi 🇸🇪.

I’ll be honest, when I first heard about this, I didn’t think many kids in Cyprus would even know who Pippi Longstocking or the Moomins were.

Esittelemme hankkeen kautta menestyneen Pit-to-tablen, joka valmistaa oliiviviljelmiltä ylijäävistä oliivinkivistä kestäviä sisustuslevyjä. Embassy of Finland in Nicosia funded the Startups4Peace peacebuilding programme in Cyprus for 10 years. We present one of the participants and winners of last year’s programme, Pit-to-table. Pit-to-table is a successful start-up that transforms discarded olive pits into bio-panels. The co-founders share their thoughts on peacebuilding in Cyprus as well as their experiences in start-up event Slush in Helsinki.

On the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, we honor the memory of those ten thousand Finns, who have served in the . The blue and white memorial at the former Kykko Camp, close to Nicosia airport, reminds us about the legacy of Finns for peace and reconciliation.

Yesterday, we celebrated the winners of the "Inspiring journey of Moomins and Pippi" children's literary project with a ceremony at the Swedish Residence. Winning students were awarded diplomas by the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, Dr Athena Michaelidou, Ambassador of Sweden, Mr Martin Hagström, Ambassador of Finland, Mrs Päivi Peltokoski and the Commissioner for the Protection of Children's Rights, Ms Elena Perikleous. The winning schools also received literary corners, sponsored by IKEA as well as books about the adventures of Pippi Longstocking and the Moomins.📚⛺️

The children's literary project was organized under the auspices of the Minister during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU. Children from more than 30 primary schools all around Cyprus participated with fascinating artworks and creative stories reflecting the values of Moomins and Pippi. The contributions were carefully reviewed by a scientific committee, and the winners were chosen by the Ambassadors, CYBBY - Cyprus IBBY - Κυπριακός Σύνδεσμος Παιδικού Νεανικού Βιβλίου in cooperation wih Υπουργείο Παιδείας, Αθλητισμού και Νεολαίας the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth . 🎨🖌️

We want to send our heartfelt thank you to all the schools who participated and to all our partners who supported the project. Beloved characters Moomins and Pippi will continue to inspire us with their optimism and courage.
