The Northern Luzon Naval Command, together with the Civil Military Operations Unit – Northern Luzon, Naval Installation Facilities - Northern Luzon NSEO, Dental Dispensary, Dental Reservist, Naval Cyber Warfare Group-Northern Luzon, Naval Special Warfare Unit-2, LC820, 4MBde and MBLT-10 successfully conducted the “CMO FROM THE SEA” activity at Barangay Balatubat, Camiguin Island, as part of the 128th Philippine Navy Anniversary Celebration.
The activity was led by RADM RICHARD N GONZAGA PN, Commander Northern Luzon Naval Command, Also present were BGEN BOB R APOSTOL PN(M) Commander, 4th Marine Brigade and Hon. Joseph M. Liopis, Municiapal Mayor of Calayan Island, Cagayan as a manifestation of their support for the program and solidarity with its mission of delivering services and assistance to the community.
During the activity, the Naval Station Ernesto Ogbinar Dental Dispensary and Dental Reservist in partnership with the Rural Health Unit of Camiguin Island, provided free dental consultations and tooth extractions to ensure that residents had access to dental services, which are often limited in remote island communities.
An important part of the initiative was the distribution of wheelchairs for persons with disabilities. School supplies for children, books, sports equipment, food packs, solar lights, hygiene kits, slippers, and medicines for the Rural Health Unit were also distributed. In total, it is estimated that nearly one thousand individuals benefited from the various services and assistance provided during the activity. Additionally, a fisherfolk forum was conducted to raise the awareness of fishermen regarding their rights in the West Philippine Sea and to emphasize their vital role in protecting marine resources, which contributes to the command’s external security operations.
