Earlier today, I had the honour of joining the Windsor-Essex community for the annual Afghanistan Veterans Memorial Service at Reaume Park.

More than 40,000 Canadians served in Afghanistan. 158 did not return home. Corporal Andrew Paul Grenon, a 23-year-old Windsorite was one of the 158, who gave his life serving Canada.

We honoured his mother, Theresa Charbonneau, our Silver Cross Mother, and all the families who continue to carry the burden of service and sacrifice alongside their loved ones.

Lieutenant-Colonel (Retd.) Mark Popov who served in Afghanistan reminded us that service extends beyond those in uniform, and service is possible due to support of families, friends, neighbours, local schoolchildren sending notes of thanks, receiving care packages while deployed, and countless others who stood behind them.

To all who served, those who came home, and those who did not: we will remember, and we will honour your service and sacrifice.

🎒 Back to School - A Few Safety Tips & Reminders:

School is back on Tuesday September 7th, the buses will be running and our roads will be very busy again.

For students: pay attention, follow the rules and make good choices. Look both ways before crossing, stay alert when walking or cycling. Wear your helmet when cycling or using a scooter and don't get distracted by your cellphone.

For parents: take a few minutes to go over the basics with your kids. Make sure they know their route, understand the rules and know what to do if something unexpected happens.

For drivers: Please slow down. Roads will be busy, head out a few minutes early, so you can get to your destination on time, and you too shouldn't be distracted by your cellphone.
School zones will be busy. Watch for children at crossings, give buses plenty of room and never ever pass a school bus with its red lights flashing.

📚 🍎 Let’s get the new school year off to a great start, as we welcome our students and teachers back to school !

Wishing everyone in Windsor and across Canada a very Happy Labour Day weekend! 🇨🇦

As we continue to enjoy the rest of the long weekend, we recognize & thank the workers, tradespeople, small business owners, entrepreneurs, and families whose hard work keeps our communities moving forward.

Mark Carney rightly believed there was too much bureaucracy in defence procurement, so he added a new bureaucracy to tackle the problem, and now the head of that new bureaucracy has quit because he says he is fed up dealing with all the bureaucracy.

Standing in solidarity with Unifor as they advocate for their workers.
Good jobs, strong communities, and Windsor’s auto & manufacturing sector depend on workers having a fair deal.
Wishing the bargaining team strength and success at the negotiating table.

"We are bargaining, first and foremost, for our members. In many ways, we are bargaining for the future of this industry in Canada," said James Stewart, Unifor’s Stellantis Master Bargaining Chairperson and President of Unifor Local 444.

Back to school?

The average projected cost for a post-secondary student is now $31,700, an 87% increase since the Liberals took office.

Students and families shouldn’t have to keep paying more for Liberal bureaucracy and higher costs.

It’s time for a new plan that makes it easier for Canadians to study, work and get ahead: https://www.conservative.ca/cpc/adopt-the-conservative-economic-action-plan/

We are glad the Liberal government came to its senses & backed down on its costly gas tax hike.
However, as families head into the fall after Labour Day, and kids head back to school, the affordability pressures are still very real. Groceries, housing, transportation and everyday essentials continue to stretch household budgets.
After a decade of higher costs, Canadians deserve more than a temporary pause or partial tax relief.
We need to go all the way & cut all federal taxes on gas and diesel and save Canadians up to 25¢ a litre.
Canadian families deserve lasting relief and Conservatives will keep fighting to make life more affordable for workers and small businesses.
This is a win for the Canadian people. More work to do tomorrow.

Conservatives get another win for Canadians.

Mark Carney backs down on his Liberal gas tax hike. But after a decade of higher costs, Canadians deserve more than a temporary pause on partial tax relief.

Cut all federal taxes on gas and diesel. Save Canadians up to 25¢/L. https://www.conservative.ca/cpc/zero-tax-on-gas/
