Today we gathered to reflect back on a year of professional development and connections during our 2026 AGM. Attendees were treated to an engaging, informative and fun session on “AI and the Future of Volunteer Engagement” expertly and entertainingly delivered by Katie Stokes of Blab Media.

We also elected a new treasurer, Lizette from ALSO - Assisted Living Southwestern Ontario; a new recording secretary, Jane from University of Windsor; and a second program coordinator, Stephanie from Ronald McDonald House SWO.

Continuing their roles on WEAVA’s executive are Mark (president) from South Essex Community Council - SECC, Crystle (vice-president) from ALSO - Assisted Living Southwestern Ontario, Theresa (past president) from Bladder Cancer Canada / Cancer de la vessie Canada, and Madeline (program coordinator) from Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.

Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing everyone back in September!

Happy National Volunteer Week!

Today we celebrated and recognized the volunteers and volunteer engagement professionals of Windsor-Essex. It was a wonderful morning of connection, compassion, collaboration and community.

Thank you to our volunteer guest speakers Sarah from Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association and Michelle from Julien's House for sharing your volunteer journey stories and what ignites volunteerism for you personally.

And thank you to City of Windsor - Municipal Government Ward 6 Councillor Jo Anne Gignac and Essex County Warden Hilda MacDonald for bringing well wishes and words of gratitude and thanks on behalf of the administration and residents of Windsor-Essex.
