Have you had a chance to check out our Windsor International Film Festival window decorations yet? Love seeing our space all bright and lit up at night during our extended hours! If you’re walking between The Capitol Theatre Windsor and The Armouries to catch any films, you’ll be sure to spot us, especially at night ✨

A friendly reminder that our hours are extended through Sunday November 6th so we’re open until 10pm every night except Sundays!

Over the last twenty four hours, I have run a full range of emotions. My volunteers, family and friends put in countless hours over the last three and a half months.

My campaign message was and is so much a part of who I am and what I believe in for the downtown, for the ward, and for the city. I am very proud of how close we came, and I congratulate Renaldo Agostino for his exciting campaign.

In the next few weeks, my current term as the Chair of the Downtown Windsor BIA will come to an end - a role which I volunteered my time for, because of my love of the core. Over the last four years, the changes we have seen in the downtown have been impressive - we have seen new developments happen, with projects like the old Loop complex and Ye Olde Steakhouse being converted to Rocket Mortgage, Invest Windsor Essex moving their office downtown, and 15 new retail shops and restaurants opening. During the pandemic, we advocated for small business, getting parklets built in record time, starting a petition for small business to receive the same treatment as big box stores, garnering thousands of signatures, and even starting an employment page, connecting downtown residents with downtown jobs.

This has not changed, nor has my resolve.
I plan to run for the BIA again, and, should I be successful, I will continue to work hard for the downtown, as I have for my entire adult life.
It was a great run, I’ll see you in four years.

The municipal election is tomorrow (Monday October 24th). I wanted to take a moment to let you all know that it’s been a privilege getting to know you and hearing what you love about our ward, and what you don't. It’s your voices that will matter as we soon begin a new term for the city.

It would be an honour to represent you on city council and I hope you'll vote for me at the polls tomorrow. Wishing all the candidates running in this years election the best of luck!

An open letter to Ward 3 residents:

My name is Brian Yeomans and I’m running to be your city councilor for Ward 3. As a resident and worker in Ward 3, I believe that the city’s strength begins in the core. Over the last four years, I have seen so many positive steps forward for our Ward and I want to continue that positive momentum.

I’ve lived in Windsor for 30 years and have always been involved in the city. In the last four years, I served as the Chair of the Downtown Windsor BIA, a volunteer position that has provided invaluable experience. During that time with the BIA, in the midst of the Pandemic, we found ways to help businesses thrive.

I bring with me a unique perspective. I’ve worked in the hospitality and food and beverage industries. I’m also a resident of downtown and my wife owns a business in the core. I know what both residents and businesses need to thrive, and I will fight to ensure that’s provided.

Throughout this election, I’ve knocked on many doors in Windsor’s core. I’ve spoken to many of you and heard your main concerns. I know you're worried about feeling safe and secure in your neighbourhoods. I’ve heard the concerns of parents worried about their kids playing while cars speed by. I’ve heard about flooded basements and crumbling infrastructure that so badly needs attention. I’ve also heard that you are concerned about our neighbourhood’s most vulnerable and that you want to see better supports for those dealing with poverty, drug addictions and homelessness.

Downtown is no stranger to hard times. We’ve been through it before and we need the right person to lead us through again. I know what hard work is and I’m not afraid to do it. I’m not new to the council chambers as I’ve fought on behalf of the downtown core before. I’ve fought for more outreach workers, fairness to small businesses during the pandemic, and extended patios to increase capacity for downtown businesses.

I live here and I care deeply for these neighbourhoods so I want to focus on improving quality of life for residents. I am committed to doing the hard work you expect, because we all know that out of sight out of mind, solves nothing. We are not the only community struggling and these big problems aren’t unique to downtown or even Windsor, but the best way forward is to work together and learn from each other.

Being a city councilor means being in touch with the neighborhood and what needs to be done. I am part of this community and here to represent you.

On Monday, October 24th, get out to vote. Please vote for me, Brian Yeomans.

It's hard to believe that 3.5 months of canvassing is coming to an end on Sunday. I could never have accomplished what I have without the incredible people who volunteered their time and donated their hard earned money to help me get to as many doors and reach as many residents as I have.

I am so thankful for the outpouring of support from my friends, family and neighbours!
Your belief and faith in my ability to represent this ward gives me strength!

I have spent years fighting for the core of this city, both pre and post pandemic, pushing for initiatives and opportunities for the downtown to not only survive, but thrive.

Now, I am beyond ready to continue that hard work by representing the downtown and its surrounding communities on city council.

Working on council is something I take extremely seriously. I have seen first hand how important it is to not only understand what is happening in your ward, but to also be aware of the individual challenges faced by other wards in the city.

A councilor has one vote. It is the responsibility of that councilor to ensure the argument for why something should happen is logical, prudent and benefits the masses.

I look forward, should I be elected, to working with every single person that sits at that table to find solutions to the problems we face in Ward 3 and beyond.

While each ward undoubtedly has its own share of issues, it’s pertinent that city council works together to make sure our ENTIRE city thrives, as we prioritize the strengthening of the core.

This city sits on the precipice of greatness. Let’s make it to the top!

I love my neighbourhood! Is it perfect? Of course not. But it’s full of so many wonderful people and businesses that often get overshadowed by the negative.

As the election approaches, let’s take a moment to appreciate the things we love most about Ward 3. Share your favourite people/places/things in the comments and let’s show our neighbourhood some love ⬇️

Last night I attended the Windsor Islamic Association Municipal Candidate Meet & Greet. Thank you to Osman Tarabain and his administration for hosting us and for the opportunity to connect directly with Windsor’s growing Muslim community. I am so glad I got to meet so many people, hear their concerns and talk about what they would like to see for our core, and for our city.
