More than 18,600 people in B.C. have lost their lives so far to the toxic drug crisis since the public health emergency was declared in 2016.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we come together to remember our loved ones lost, and honour everyone impacted by the ongoing toxic drug crisis.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family member, a dear friend, and a part of our communities. The devastating loss of life we continue to witness is not an inevitability: it is a crisis that continues to be shaped by a lack of policy change, stigmatization, criminalization, an unpredictable/unregulated drug supply, and many barriers to accessing proper healthcare & housing.
We must fight for an end to this tragic madness.

We gather together in community to remember, to grieve, and to stand together for change. We hope today can provide a place to speak of our losses and to feel supported by others who understand the impact. Our hearts are with yours as we reflect on what has been lost.
