This weekend was an amazing one spent OUTSIDE enjoying the Cochrane Lions Club Rodeo. It's on today as well starting at 1pm and it is an absolute blast to watch. Some of my favourite shots of the day were of the up and coming generation. They are fearless and determined! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

This weekend was fabulous in every way. The weather was entirely perfect, the sun was shining and there was loads of fun to be had down at the Cochrane Lions Club Rodeo.

For those still hoping to find something to do today, the events fire back up at 1pm and you’re bound to have great action to watch.

Get outside and soak up the last days of summer. We all know here in Canada they quickly turn to fall.

When life gets ridiculous and brutal, you don’t have to accept your fate. You take it as an opportunity to make the necessary changes. Like this one. Clinical massage therapy…. Here I come. November 2021. 💥

If I can be a single mom with 4 kids who goes back, you can too. There are lots of options for financing - bursaries, grants or loans.

Don’t wait and don’t say you’re too old. You’re not. I’m 41.

Tonight was my ex husband’s night with the kids. Since he was at my house having dinner with everyone I took the opportunity to pop out with my boyfriend and fish.

We went Tuesday on the Elbow, and today on the Highwood. I caught nothing but I am really quite skilled at tangling my lines.

My first “wedding anniversary” separated from my husband is tomorrow, and spending quiet time on the water was exactly what I needed to remind me that this is all forward growth and that it’s time to invent new traditions around these days. So tomorrow would have marked 16 years married, but it instead marks close to 5 months in a new and mutually supportive relationship. One that feels a lot like home.

My ex and my relationship is absolutely amicable which helps immensely, but these milestones are all still fresh and I think the best way to describe it is “365 days of paper cuts.” Each day brings a facebook memory or an event that I have to remember. Some good, some really crappy. I try not to ignore these things as I tend to grow through them if I allow myself to “feel, heal and deal” as my wise friend Jeff once told me. Actually he repeatedly told me and it’s forever ingrained in my brain. Best advice I ever received.

So basically cheers to getting outside for your mental health, and cheers to having a loving and supportive partner there through the tangled fishing lines and the more challenging days emotionally. Braden is the real MVP.

I swore I’d never date again after my marriage ended because I couldn’t imagine having to go through getting to know someone new and I also thought I’d find someone else being part of my Childrens’ lives to be overwhelming.
Turns out it’s good to open your heart again because you just never know what awesome things will come.
Pic taken at Lundbreck Falls yesterday on our adventure. Seems we have been having a lot of adventures together these past four months. I couldn’t be happier that I met someone who shares similar interests, thinks my kids are awesome and understands the dynamics of my ex husband’s role in my life.
I am very grateful for the love and adventure that has been brought into my life. I’m learning to focus on the moments as they happen and worry less about the future. It’s best we never take for granted the relationships we have, because we just never know what may be around the corner. Soak up the moments and grow together. Communicate openly. Take risks. Don’t be afraid to get your heart broken. If you’re too scared to open your heart after a break up, you run the risk of missing great opportunities to meet and be with a potentially great match. 💞
No regrets here. Life is good.

Sporting my **o_company shirt and showing off the epic view of the Shuswap Lake.
The smoke here is terrible right now but vacations are good for our mental health. So we make the best of it!

For now, I will go enjoy my 10pm bedtime…. Cuz I am long past done keeping my eyes open for today!

On weekends when my kids are away with their dad (having a total blast by the way, I got such an awesome call from one of my boys this morning telling me how much fun he had), I like to try to sneak out with friends for some epic adventures whenever possible.

I know it is so integral in my ability to be a decent mom. Taking a break, allowing myself to recharge and be more than mom for a few short days.

We hit up Canmore Reservoir by the Nordic Centre and took all of our kayaks for a spin. It was an absolute blast and the perfect way to get outside and get active. I haven’t laughed so hard like that in a very long time.

Socializing has been hard due to Covid but outdoor activities are the perfect loophole.

Getting outside is so good for your well being. Fresh air, sunshine, natural vitamin D… in Canada we don’t get a lot of this scorching hot weather and truthfully as much as it is hard to work in, I’m out getting stuff done in my yard before it gets ridiculously hot.

When you think of “getting outside” or “adventuring,” try to make it less of a huge event for yourself and more of a get out however you can with what you have. 💞

Getting outside doesn’t always have to be a giant ordeal and a trip to the mountains.

(Although I will argue and perhaps fight to the death with anyone who doesn’t believe in the true magic that unfolds when you stand in the mountains breathing in that fresh mountain air…. But I digress.)

Today I had a few hours to kill and two kids who were itching to hit the trails in Okotoks on their bike and scooter. I know exercise eases anxiety and it’s something we have dealt with a lot of over the past year and a half. So off we went.

My middle son (Ikey) has a broken arm but it hasn’t stopped him from getting outside and getting moving. Obstacles suck but they aren’t dead ends. Find ways around them and get the f*** outside. Your mental health will thank you.
