Everyone has the right to move through this city without being treated like a suspect. Last week, TTC Riders came to St. Felix Centre to make sure our guests know exactly how to exercise that right. 🚌

Rose took Twitch in when she was just one year old — a broken jaw, broken leg, fractured ribs, and pneumonia. She had already been through so much.
That was 13 years ago.

Now they're at St. Felix Centre together and for Rose, having Twitch by her side makes all the difference.

Because sometimes home isn't a place. It's who's with you. At St. Felix Centre, we never make our guests choose between shelter and the pet who keeps them going. 🐾

Sun’s out, grills out ā˜€ļøšŸ”Ā
Ā
Huge thank you to for sponsoring and volunteering at this week’s BBQ for our guests. From veggie to chicken to beef burgers, there was something delicious for everyone, but even more importantly, it brought people together to enjoy the sunshine, connect, and share a great afternoon as a community.
Ā
Your time, energy, and kindness mean the world to us šŸ’›

For the first time in Canadian history, the national Census is asking about homelessness, including hidden homelessness: couch surfing, doubling up, living temporarily with others because there’s nowhere else to go.
Ā
An estimated 6 million Canadians have experienced this. Yet until now, they’ve been all but invisible in our national data.
Ā
The 2026 long-form Census (sent to 1 in 4 households) includes two new questions that will help researchers, advocates, and policymakers finally see the full picture, and make the case for real investment in housing and services.

With FIFA just 34 days away from coming to Toronto, we spent the day in Liberty Village connecting with our community and celebrating the diversity that makes this city so special. āš½šŸŒŽ

Our team had the chance to speak with community members, share conversations, and hand out our community cookbook, a collection of recipes and stories shared by our staff and guests ā™„ļø

This week at Hope House, we celebrated Mother’s Day with a special soap-making activity for our residents! 🌸
Ā
It sounds simple, and in a way, it was, but that’s exactly what made it special. Residents gathered around the table, chose their favourite scents and colours, and just... spent time together.

The afternoon didn’t need to be anything more than what it was: a chance to slow down, feel a little joy, and share it with the people around.Ā And that’s what makes Hope House feel like home ā™„ļø

Yesterday, our Community Liaisons joined the 14 Division’s 3rd Annual Prayer Walk, which is a gathering rooted in unity, reflection, and a shared commitment to stand against hate, violence, and racism.

Beginning at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Parkdale, the walk moved through the community with stops at Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto, Holy Family Catholic School, and Parkdale Collegiate Institute.

At each site, we paused for moments of prayer and reflection, reminding us that even across different faiths and backgrounds, we are united in something deeper. Our commitment to care for one another.

Together, as neighbours, partners, and community members, we continue to choose compassion, understanding, and unity šŸ¤

A special thank you to Officers Scott Surridge and Kuok Ming Lee for their thoughtful donation of non-perishable food packages for our tenants at Hope House.

Always showing up with smiles and a genuine willingness to help, they’ve become a familiar and trusted presence, whether it’s supporting us during the Coldest Night of the Year or simply being there when our community needs them. ā™„ļø

Neighbourhood Community Officers play an important role in building safer, more connected communities. By working closely with residents and local organizations, they help address challenges, reduce harm, and create space for meaningful, long-term solutions.

Community shows up in many ways and last week, it showed up with gloves, garbage bags, and a shared sense of care.

A big thank you to the team at for organizing a community clean-up around our Liberty Village site. Together, we spent the day refreshing the neighbourhood, connecting with one another, and taking pride in the space we all share.

We’re so grateful for partners who show up, take action, and make a meaningful difference right where it matters šŸ’š

When we think about homelessness, we often picture the crisis, but prevention starts much earlier. It can look like helping someone navigate a financial setback, supporting youth before family conflict escalates, or ensuring people leaving institutions don’t fall through the cracks.
Ā
These interventions may seem small, but they make a lasting difference.

This Earth Week, we spent time in Liberty Village and outside our 629 Adelaide St W shelter, connecting with our community. From sharing what we do to answering questions about our shelters, to handing out wildflower seed packets, this time with our neighbours was spent building understanding and connection. 🌱
