~ June 2007, D Bty’s C Troop were Hel-Op’d to Khakrez to give fire support to US Special Forces in the area, the Tp vehicles and a small group of ANA joined them later Shortly after arriving they came under direct attack and fought it off, after which the enemy tried to take them out with mortars or rockets.

A light weight counter mortar radar was brought up and helped them neutralize the mortars, but the enemy continued attacks with rockets. This video was recorded near the tail end of an attack

These events will be described in Vol 2 of With a Few Guns (2007-2014)

This is what 90% of your tour can be.

Leaving a FOB and driving down a route to another location then turning around and coming back…just don’t come back the same way.

No shots fired, no IEDs, just a nice little drive with the boys. You get to check out the stalls in the market, wave at kids, see all the weird and unusual things that are Afghanistan.

This video will take people back, no music just the sounds of the engine and whatever else.

Well in position at Strong Point Centre we needed to clear cover used by the enemy to shoot at us from.

The actual strong point was used to protect workers and insure IEDs weren’t placed on a road being built from FOB Wilson to MSG. Saving hours on travel and avoiding IED alley the road was crucial for the push west.

We had engineers with us, they of course had C4 and hated carrying it around, we had trees that needed to come down.
