Newsletter feature: The Land Between 👋
If you’ve ever enjoyed yourself in cottage country, then you should know about The Land Between (TLB). The Land Between is both the name of nationally unique and globally rare region (Muskoka & Kawartha Lakes, east to the Ottawa Valley) as well as the charity working towards protecting it. This area is home to an extraordinary amount of habitat diversity, some of the most abundant wetlands in Ontario, and disappearing species like the loon, black bear, and moose. TLB has 6 key programs areas:
💧 Water Health & Integrity
🐢 Biodiversity, including our keystone project, Turtle Guardians, where we’ve rescued, incubated, and released over 15,800 hatchlings for Ontario’s 8 at-risk turtles
☀️ Climate Change
📚 Education & Youth, including our over 850 trained volunteers
💚 Culture & Identity
❤️ Indigenous Knowledge
TLB is a great way to get involved in protecting one of Ontario’s favourite vacation destinations and it’s imperative to ensure our enjoyment does not come at the cost of the ecosystem.
