❓ What is it? The Transportation Master Plan is a long-term roadmap for how people and goods move throughout Timmins. It considers the entire transportation network, including roads, traffic, public transit, truck routes, active transportation, and connections between neighbourhoods. The goal is to create a transportation system that is accessible, safe, connected, and prepared for future growth.
❓ Why does it matter? Transportation affects how we get to work, school and services, how businesses move goods, and how Timmins supports growth and economic development. The plan uses data and future growth projections to identify where improvements may be needed, helping the City plan the transportation network as a whole, rather than one project at a time. It’s a big-picture look at how Timmins moves and where we’re going next.
❓ What is Council’s role? The Transportation Master Plan provides Council with a long-term framework for transportation decisions. Council is responsible for considering the plan’s recommendations and determining which priorities move forward through future budgets, capital projects, and policies. Residents often experience transportation one road or intersection at a time. Council has to consider how those individual concerns fit into the whole network and the community’s long-term needs.
