A total of 65 members from Upsala, Nolalu, Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shebandowan, O’Connor, Conmee, Pass Lake, East Gorham, Lappe, Kaministiquia and Gillies Fire Departments came together to participate in Sp-103 Wildland Fire Fighter Training for Fire Agencies.
Organized, hosted, and instructed by key members of the departments, the training brought firefighters from across our region together two days. Yes that's right, these ladies and gentlemen once again gave up their weekend for training.
Day 1 was a full day of classroom theory, followed by a Celebration of Learning.
Day 2 consisted students being divided into 4 platoons with a half day of hands-on practical field training where participants were able to put their new knowledge and skills into action.
Wildland fires don’t recognize boundaries, and neither does the cooperation between our departments.
A huge thank you to the instructors and organizers who dedicated their time and expertise to making the weekend possible, and congratulations and thank you to all 65 participants on completing the training.
65 firefighters. 12 departments. One Zone. One shared commitment to protecting our communities.
