There has been leaps and bounds in getting a dog park in Swift Current we are now in the planning/developing stages. Listed below are the rules and regulations for the new dog park:
• Off-leash parks are considered a natural area. Please be cautious of terrain.
• Users of the facility do so at their own risk. Neither the Swift Current Dog Park Committee nor the City of Swift Current shall be li
able for any injury or damage caused by any dog in the off-leash area/park.
• No children under the age of 16 are permitted unless accompanied by an adult.
• Handlers are limited to a maximum of two dogs. All dogs must be over 4 months of age and vaccinated.
• Dogs must be under their handler’s control at all times. Dogs may not be left unattended. If you cannot control the dog off-leash, keep your dog leashed.
• Dog owners must pick up and properly dispose of their pet's poop. Dog owners are also required to bring a "suitable means" (e.g. plastic bag) for picking up their pet's feces.
• Female Dogs “in heat” are prohibited from entering the off-leash dog park.
• Please do not bring dog food into the park
• For the safety of your dog(s) and other park visitors, choke, prong (pinch) and spike collars are strictly prohibited. If you use these types of collars, remove them before entering the park.
• All users of the site shall comply with the City bylaws, including the City of Swift Current Animal Control Bylaw and all applicable legislation.
• All dogs must have a current dog license from the City of Swift Current. Dogs should also wear an owner identification tag and current rabies tag at all times. All dogs shall be up to date on all vaccinations and shots.
• The park is open year round; however, the road is only seasonally maintained. For any inquiries please contact the City of Swift Current Community Services at 306-778-2787 or the City of Swift Current Planning and Growth Development (Bylaw) at 306-778-2740.
