Healthy relationships aren't about one person having more power than the other.
They're a partnership.
Equality can look like:
π Both people get a say in decisions.
π Both people's boundaries matter.
π Both can spend time with friends and family.
π Neither person controls the other's phone, clothing, money, or social life.
π Both can express an opinion, even when they disagree.
π Both people's goals and interests are supported.
π Neither person has to make themselves smaller to keep the other happy.
You don't have to like all the same things.
You don't have to agree all the time.
And everything doesn't have to be exactly 50/50.
Equality means one person's wants, needs, and choices don't automatically matter more than the other's.
As young people begin navigating dating relationships, let's help them recognize that respect isn't about power over someone, it's about partnership.
