This past Sunday, the Surrey First 2026 team officially kicked off our door-knocking campaign, and it was a great opportunity to connect directly with residents across our community.

What made the day even more special was having my wife, my two sons, and my mother by my side helping collect information and listen to the concerns, ideas, and priorities of our neighbours. Community starts with family, and I was proud to have mine alongside me as we met so many great people.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer the door, share your thoughts, and have meaningful conversations with us. These conversations are invaluable and help ensure we understand what matters most to the people who call Surrey home.

We're looking forward to continuing to meet residents across the city, one conversation at a time.

As May comes to a close, I've spent the month doing what I believe matters most, getting out into the community, meeting people, listening to their stories, and shaking as many hands as possible.

From local businesses and farms to community events, fundraisers, rodeos, cultural celebrations, seniors' groups, sports organizations, and neighbourhood gatherings, every conversation has been an opportunity to learn more about the people who make Surrey such a great place to call home.

I've met hardworking business owners, dedicated volunteers, community leaders, parents, seniors, youth, and residents from every corner of our city. While every handshake lasts only a moment, the conversations and connections behind them leave a lasting impression.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your thoughts, concerns, ideas, and hopes for Surrey's future. Your voices matter, and I look forward to continuing these conversations in the months ahead.

May was filled with thousands of steps, countless handshakes, and a renewed appreciation for the incredible people who make up our community.

Here's to an even busier June!

A big thank you to John from Donia Farms, Randy Sahota, and Heppell Farms for taking the time to welcome the Surrey First team and provide us with an inside look at your operations.

It was a valuable opportunity to learn more about the challenges and successes of local agriculture, hear directly from those working the land, and gain a greater appreciation for the important role our farming community plays in Surrey's economy and food security.

We appreciate your hospitality, your openness, and your commitment to preserving Surrey's rich agricultural heritage. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping us better understand the issues that matter most to our farming community.

It was an honour to attend the Equal Access Collective Accessible Parade hosted by Susan Mahal-Bains .

Events like this are such an important reminder that building a stronger community means making sure everyone feels included, welcomed, and able to participate. Seeing so many families, advocates, volunteers, and community leaders come together in support of accessibility and inclusion was truly inspiring.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize the event and to all those continuing to advocate for a more accessible and inclusive City of Surrey for everyone. đź’™

Honoured to be invited to tour the incredible work being done at CZRO BIO and learn more about their facility, innovation, and vision for the future. Always great seeing organizations pushing forward with ideas and solutions that can make a real difference in our communities.

I also had the opportunity to attend the “Food for Thought” event hosted by CARP . It was a great evening of discussion, connection, and hearing important conversations around the issues impacting seniors and our communities today.

Thank you to everyone involved for the invitation, hospitality, and the chance to listen, learn, and connect with so many passionate people.

Last night I had the opportunity to attend “Raise Your Spoon” at Gracepoint Community Church an incredible fundraiser supporting Sunday dinners for people in our community who are struggling, vulnerable, or simply in need of a warm meal and connection.

It was inspiring to see so many people come together with compassion and generosity to support something that truly matters. Programs like this remind us that community is about looking after one another and making sure nobody feels forgotten.

A huge thank you to all of the organizers, volunteers, donors, and everyone who attended and contributed. Your kindness is making a real difference in people’s lives. ❤️
