Grey water — water from kitchen or bathroom sinks, bathtubs, or washing machines — can safely be captured and rerouted to the garden. Here's how.

Uh oh! Did you miss picking a cucumber only to find... this? Don't fret, because this is the maturity you want to have for optimal seed harvest!

Remove the seeds and place in a container with some water for a few days to ferment and remove the gel coating around the seed. Give it a swirl or stir once in a while to help this process. Bad seeds and pulp will float to the top, and good seeds will sink. After a few days, carefully dump the water and debris, and spread your good seeds out to dry. Store in a dry container in a cool place. I like to put my seeds in an envelope and place in a container or jar in the fridge.

Many flowers that may already be in your garden are edible! Have you made any of these? I'm very much looking forward to making tea with my chamomile, calendula and lemon balm this year, but I would love to experiment and make peony jelly!

There are a surprising number of tasty edible flowers growing in many yards and farms across Canada.

Get yer tomatoes! I have 4 varieties available: Sun Gold, Early Girl, San Marzano Roma, and new one called Get Stuffed!

All are indeterminate (vine) types, however Get Stuffed is a shorter vine. Sun Golds are a very sweet cherry that are wonderful to snack on in the garden. Early Girl and San Marzano are meaty, and I really like using them for my salsas and sauces. Get Stuffed is a striking striped tomato with thick walls, which makes it great to eat raw or stuff for cooking (hence it's name).

Two vegetables I have available this year are pickling cucumbers and mini bell peppers (Hungarian Cheese Blend).

Hungarian Cheese Blend peppers are high yielding with a pumpkin shape. Suitable for containers or gardens, and are particularly good for stuffing and pickling. (Info from West Coast Seeds)

If you're thinking of growing a tea garden this year, I have available German Chamomile, Lemon Balm, and Calendula (Neon and Pacific Beauty Mix). They can be used fresh or dried.

All will grow to at least 24" in height with a suggested container size is +12". I do suggest planting Lemon Balm in a container as it is in the mint family. To dry, it's best to pick early in the morning and dry quickly to retain the best flavor.
