The old brick school built in 1925, using Scottish architectural design; it has a hip-gable roof and a bell tower. The school was Stony Plain’s first regional high school and was in full operation until 1949. After extensive renovations and landscaping, the school was reborn as the Multicultural Heritage Centre, a Provincial Historic Site.

Alongside the red brick schoolhouse stands the Oppertshauser House. Built in 1910, it is architecturally unique due to its unusual European style roof. The Oppertshauser House is a Municipal Historic Resource, which interprets the urban aspect of our local heritage in the setting of a well-established Stony Plain family.

Tour the museum, art gallery, pioneer cabin, artisan shop, and the Oppertshauser House as well as the outdoor gardens, and amphitheatre.

For a quick virtual tour of the Oppertshauser House and the red brick schoolhouse, check out the YouTube video by Canadian History Ehx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dut8sDwqQG8

I know our accounts been a little bit quiet lately- I’m busy back at my full-time job. Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to juggle the library and my other life…but I am SO happy to tell you guys that the Multi Center (who was our partner and owns the building we’re currently in) has graciously offered to take over the library operations! This means there is NO CHANGE to our members, and everything will continue to operate as usual. There could even be a possibility of even more with more hours and availability. I’ll keep this page up for a bit to continue sharing the new information.

Thanks to everyone who was a part of our journey! My kids will be sad that they can’t go to ‘mommy’s work’ anymore, but we are looking forward to new adventures!!
Ps, if anyone’s looking for a new massage therapist, you can find me at Elements Health in Spruce Grove ☺️ Cheers 🥂

I’m always behind the ball 🤦‍♀️ We will be closed tomorrow to do some garage sale-ing for new items!
