🍺 Prost, Waterloo Region!

Last Thursday, we celebrated the start of the 2026 Ontario Summer Games in the most fitting way possible — a keg tap with Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest and Onkel Hans alongside the extraordinary people who made these Games happen.

It was great to join Natalie Pierre, Mike Harris, Jess Dixon, MPP Brian Riddell Cambridge and municipal leaders from across the region to recognize the organizing committee, sponsors, volunteers and everyone working behind-the-scenes who brought this event to life.🏅🎉

🥇 Last night, we kicked off the 2026 Ontario Summer Games in Waterloo Region.

Thousands of athletes, parents, coaches, officials, friends and volunteers from across the province have come together to celebrate competition, community and the future of sport in Ontario.

These are the moments that build a stronger sporting community. Best of luck to these young Ontario athletes - enjoy every moment.

Today, I informed Premier Ford of my decision to retire from my seat as MPP for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and as Minister of Sport, effective August 4, 2026.

To the people of Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, thank you for the trust you placed in me. Representing you has been the honour of a lifetime, and I retire with tremendous optimism for the future of our community and our province under the leadership of Premier Ford.

Today, Natalie Pierre and I checked out this one-of-a-kind experience that blends mini-golf and soccer while showcasing Ontario’s iconic landmarks and attractions.

A huge thank you to all the workers, volunteers, Destination Ontario, our Ontario Sport team, the City of Toronto, and the Host City supporters for bringing the Ontario Campus to life. Your hard work has made this an unforgettable destination for fans from around the world. ⚽️🌎

Sport brings people together—and that starts with having great places to play and connect.

Proud to join Chief Hockaday, Deputy Chief Jacobs, MPP Dave Smith, MP Emma Harrison, Council and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the new Endaad Migizi–Eagles Nest Outdoor Arena in Curve Lake First Nation.

Backed by a $6.3 million investment through our Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, this multi-season facility will create year-round opportunities for sport, recreation and community gathering for generations to come.

🏀 Hamilton delivered — and so did Canada!

Last night, thousands of fans packed TD Coliseum to watch Team Canada wrap up a perfect 6-0 first round at the FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifiers with a dominant 116-78 win over Jamaica, with hometown hero and two-time NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander helping lead the way.

We are proud to help organizations like Canada Basketball bring world-class events like this to Ontario through our Sport Hosting Program.
