🍂 September Is Here!

The newest edition of The Belmont Buzz was distributed this week. Our very own Client, Mr. Swanton, serves as editor and prepares this wonderful newsletter each month before sending it to Ryleigh for the final touches, printing and publishing. It continues to be a fantastic success!

Team member Lori led our Sweet Creations program, where our Clients made a delicious trifle-style dessert layered with custard, fresh berries, pound cake and whipped cream. We also enjoyed an afternoon of Yahtzee and our regular chair yoga program.

A special thank-you goes to our Client Donna, who happily leads our bingo program and does a wonderful job bringing everyone together. We truly appreciate the time and enthusiasm she puts into making it so enjoyable!

Carol also stopped by to have everyone looking fabulous, while the Clearview Public Library visited for our book exchange. Our garden tomatoes are still plentiful and being enjoyed by everyone.

Finishing August at The Belmont! 💛

We celebrated Frank’s birthday, welcomed our good friend Eddy back from the city for some entertainment, enjoyed chair yoga with the wonderful Sass Dempsey, and Carol had everyone looking fabulous!

Rick Groves treated us to some wonderful afternoon entertainment, and the Chapman’s Ice Cream Bike returned with plenty of frozen favourites. Our Clients settled into our comfortable movie chairs for Sunday’s Movie Matinee, where the winning vote went to the classic Uncle Buck—and it was a big hit!

We also received adorable photo updates of the chicks we raised. A special thank-you to Brooke Walker, Ayden Hamilton and little Jack Hamilton from Hamilton Brothers Farms for continuing to raise and care for them!

We started the week with some wonderful entertainment from Maureen during the dinner hour, followed by another well-instructed chair yoga class with the fabulous Sass Dempsey from the Health and Wellness Sanctuary in Creemore—always a Client favourite!

We also had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from Sixth Line Church, who joined our Clients for an afternoon of friendly competition, conversation and connection over games of euchre and Scrabble. Their visit added some wonderful variety to our week, and we hope to welcome them back again soon!

This week’s art enrichment program was also very well attended. Our Clients created textured artwork using modelling paste, paint, sculpting tools and scrapers. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity while supporting dexterity, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and gentle hand movement.

The results were fabulous! Many participants surprised themselves and were incredibly proud of their finished pieces.

Another wonderful week at The Belmont! 💙

We celebrated Lynn’s birthday—happiest birthday, Lynn! 🎂

Our Clients were mesmerized by the colourful performance from Cairos Jewels. The flowing ribbons, beautiful costumes and talented young dancers made this month’s visit extra special.

Team member Carrie led our art enrichment program, where Clients created amazing marbled canvases using shaving cream and food colouring instead of paint! Their artwork will be displayed in The Belmont Art Collective Gallery, which is growing beautifully. Next week, our Clients will try textured art!

Karine and Sky also stopped by for a special pet-therapy visit. Everyone loved their time together, and we hope to welcome them back from Montréal next spring or summer.

For Sweet Creations, we made three-ingredient, no-bake Mars Bar Crunch Squares with Rice Krispies and a Skor topping—a delicious hit!

🍦🚲 THE BELMONT ICE CREAM CRUISER! 🚲🍦Chapman's Ice Cream

What better way to beat the heat on a hot and humid day than with a visit from The Belmont Ice Cream Cruiser!

Today was all about bringing back some sweet summer memories while making brand-new ones together. Our Clients got to choose their favourite frozen treat right from our very own travelling ice cream cart — because you’re never too old to get excited when the ice cream arrives! 🍦❤️

And of course, we kept it local! We stocked our cruiser with Chapman’s Ice Cream, proudly made in Markdale, Ontario — which also happens to be the hometown of one of our very own Clients! That made today’s treats just a little extra special. 🇨🇦

A little nostalgia, a lot of smiles, and the perfect cool treat on a humid summer afternoon.

At The Belmont, sometimes the sweetest moments are the simplest ones. 🍨☀️
