SHOP DINE ENJOY! Marys was first settled in the early 1840’s on the banks of the Thames River & Trout Creek. The River water fell over a series of limestone ledges creating ‘Little Falls’, an early nickname for St. The falls provided power for pioneer mills and the limestone was an early source of building materials for the community. Today our famous heritage stone buildings line the downtown str
eets and that has awarded our most famous nickname, ‘Stonetown’, - the inspiration behind our annual Heritage Festival. Marys is home to nearly 7,000 residents, historical heritage buildings, the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, our famous quarry is Canada’s largest outdoor swimming pool, St. Marys Museum, St. Marys Community Theatre, St. Marys Farmers’ Market, the Grand Trunk Trail, and a diverse mix of downtown storefronts and a vibrant community spirit. The St. Marys Downtown Business Association is a not-for-profit organization established to revitalize the central district of the Town of St. Marys and designated as a Business Improvement Area (BIA) through the Town of St. The BIA’s efforts are dedicated to ensuring a healthy economic environment for the community and making the downtown a better place to shop, dine, live, work, invest, visit and play.
