G.C. Huston Track & Field Day

Earlier this week, staff had the opportunity to attend the G.C. Huston Track & Field event, where we helped keep students cool by providing cold water and popsicles throughout the day.

Niishin to all of the students who participated! We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you for your hard work, determination, and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see so many students giving their best effort, supporting one another, and representing their school with pride.

A special congratulations to all of the athletes who earned placements and will be advancing to the regional competition in the coming weeks. We wish you the very best of luck as you continue your track and field journey.

Way to go, everyone—we are proud of you! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🥇🥈🥉🏅

Yesterday we hosted a Drumstick Making Workshop in Kitchener as part of our ongoing outreach efforts to connect with Saugeen First Nation Band Members living off-reserve and share information about the supports and services we provide here at Zaag’idiwin Naaknigewin.

Participants had the opportunity to create and personalize their own drumsticks while learning about the work we do. The workshop provided a meaningful space for learning, cultural connection, and community engagement.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success. We look forward to continuing to build relationships with our off-reserve members through future outreach initiatives.

Stay tuned for details on our next outreach event, which will be announced in the coming weeks!

Miigwetch to everyone who joined us and supported this gathering. 💙🪶

This past week staff members from our Cultural Support Team attended the Manitoulin Treaty & Knowledge Gathering in which First Nation Leaders, Knowledge Keepers, Elders and representatives from the territory gathered in Manitowaning. The event focused on treaty relationships, cultural revitalization.
A Saugeen community member Waasekom Niin was a presenter and we acknowledge his good work.
Our staff travelled to gather knowledge and reported back the importance of knowing our treaties, that we need to know our history and preserve that and that we need to celebrate the accomplishments and resilience of our community. 🦅🪶
