The Simcoe Lions Club donated ANOTHER $1000 towards our mission to purchase a new minivan to assist in getting our clients to and from the Adult Day Program, as well as appointments and errands!

We hosted our Open House and Ribbon Cutting for our Cayuga location on Monday, with guests such as Mayor Shelley Ann Bentley, Councillor Debera McKeen, Councillor John Metcalfe, Broderick Leavitt on behalf of MPP Bobbi Ann Brady, and MP Dr. Leslyn Lewis; as well as our landlord John Edelman and his wife.

Our friend Maria from the Adult Day Program had the honour of cutting the ribbon, and she also helped Executive Director Gina Mannen cut the cake!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to come celebrate with us, we look forward to continuing to support local seniors and adults with disabilities in Haldimand from our office and day program space at 6 Munsee St. S. for years to come.

We are HIRING! 🚐

We are looking for a Norfolk based on-call/casual Wheelchair Accessible Van Driver to join our team!

This would involve transporting clients in one of our agency vans, and providing assistance to clients with limited mobility using this service.

Previous related experience is an asset, but we provide the training needed!

The successful candidate has...
🚐Current driver’s license & a clear Driver’s Abstract of Personal Driver’s Insurance
🚐Current First Aid certificate (CPR Certificate an asset)
🚐Current Vulnerable Sector Check and a minimum of three professional references
🚐Ability to perform the physical demands of the job which could include assisting and lifting clients and the ability to operate the lift manually in the event of electrical failure
🚐Good organizational, time management skills, reliable and available to work flexible hours

Last week our Hospice Palliative Care Outreach & Grief and Bereavement Program Coordinator Julie hosted a LivingWorks safeTALK Workshop with the Alzheimer’s Society of Haldimand- Norfolk.

This 4 hour workshop helps you to be more alert to someone thinking of su***de, and teaches you how to help them.

Julie will be hosting another one of these workshops in the near future, empowering attendees to make a difference, so keep an eye on our page for details about upcoming workshops and other events!

On Tuesday, we celebrated our awesome, hardworking staff with a pizza lunch in all 3 of our locations!
Everyone enjoyed pizza and time spent hanging out together, and in our Adult Day Program buildings, staff even invited the ADP clients to join them in some pepperoni pies!

Each and every day our team shows up for our clients. They come in every day ready to make a real difference in people's lives, from our ADP staff providing respite to caregivers and an outing to those who might otherwise be isolated at home, to our Client Service Administrators and Program and Transportation Managers who work tirelessly to connect our clients with the programs and services they need to remain independent in their homes, to our drivers who ensure that accessible transportation is available and assist our clients with getting around our community, to our Safety at Home Coordinator ensuring the clients are set up for success at home, to our Hospice Palliative Care Outreach & Grief and Bereavement Coordinator offering support to those at the end of their journey, and supporting those who have to carry on without loved ones, to Accounts Receivables compassionately assisting clients with their payments.

A pizza party could never express our appreciation for our team - but it sure makes for a nice break in the day!

We have been in our new home in Cayuga for a few months; and now that we are all settled in, we will be hosting an Open House and Ribbon Cutting at our office at 6 Munsee Street South on Monday, July 13th at 3pm.
We will have a special guest on hand – our landlord John Edelman.

John knew that we were looking to consolidate our Haldimand offices, which led him to purchasing the property we call home in Cayuga, and accommodating our needs for office space and a warm and welcoming Adult Day Program.

While we may have downsized in terms of how many localized offices we hold in both Haldimand and in Norfolk, we remain committed to providing the same level of service we are known for, while supporting our local seniors and adults with disabilities across both counties.

Joining us to assist in cutting the ribbon will be one of our Adult Day Program attendees Maria, and we hope you will join us to cheer her on and enjoy some cake with us to celebrate our Cayuga office!

Yesterday we had a very bittersweet good bye at Senior Support Services as we congratulated Van Driver Sheldon on his retirement.

Sheldon started driving for us 16 years ago, with his most regular route being getting clients to Saturday Dialysis appointments.

His great smile and dad jokes were always welcome by our clients and staff alike, spreading joy and laughs (and sometimes exaggerated exasperated groans), and we will miss him greatly and hope he stops by to visit (and to entertain us with his hilarity!)
