I want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who supported me throughout this campaign. While tonight’s result wasn’t what we had hoped for, I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together and the conversations we’ve sparked in our community.

Running in this election has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I’ve had the chance to meet so many thoughtful, passionate people who care deeply about our future. Your encouragement, your ideas, and your belief in this campaign meant more than I can fully express.

To my team and volunteers: thank you for your dedication, long hours, and unwavering commitment. This campaign was built on your energy and optimism, and I am deeply grateful.

I also want to congratulate my opponents on their victories. I wish them success as they take on the responsibility of serving our community, and I hope they lead with integrity and care for all.

Although this chapter comes to a close, my commitment to this community does not. I will continue to listen, to contribute, and to advocate for the issues that matter to all of us.

Thank you again for your trust and support.

Happy Mother's Day to mums everywhere!

Today, I want to take a moment to thank every candidate who put their name forward for municipal politics. It takes dedication, courage, and a real commitment to community to step up and run for public office.

No matter the outcome, everyone who entered this race deserves respect for their willingness to serve and contribute to the future of our city. Municipal politics is strongest when good people come forward with ideas, energy, and a desire to make a difference.

To all candidates, I wish you the very best of luck on Monday, May 11th. And to everyone heading to the polls, thank you for being part of the democratic process.

Let’s all have a good final day of campaigning and a safe, respectful election day.

If I’m elected, one of my top priorities will be **replacing the Belyea Arena** in West Saint John. For years, our neighbourhood has gone without a proper indoor recreation facility, and that’s not fair to our youth, seniors, or families who deserve safe, accessible spaces to stay active year‑round.

The closure of Belyea left a real gap in Ward 1—fewer options for hockey, fitness, community programs, and winter recreation. As a lifelong West Saint John resident, I know how important that building was to our sense of community and pride. We need more than a band‑aid solution; we need a modern, multi‑use indoor facility that can serve sports, seniors’ programs, and community events for decades to come.

If you agree Ward 1 deserves better, I’m asking for your support on May 11th. Vote Richard Lee and let’s work together to bring a new arena and recreation hub back to West Saint John.

If you’re still not sure who you’re going to vote for on May 11th, you’re not alone. A lot of Ward 1 residents are weighing their options and asking the same question: Who will truly listen to our neighbourhood and fight for our priorities?

Over the campaign, I’ve been knocking on doors, and chatting in parking lots because I believe leadership starts with listening.

Together we’ve talked about:
- Safer streets and responsible growth.
- Better parks and green spaces, like Dominion Park.
- Improved transit and traffic solutions that work for west Saint John.
- A council that’s accountable, and transparent.

If you’re on the fence, I’m asking you to give me a chance. I’m not a politician by profession—I’m a lifelong Ward 1 resident who cares about this community like a neighbour, not a portfolio.

If that sounds like the kind of voice you want for Ward 1, please vote Richard Lee on May 11th and consider sharing this post with someone else who’s still deciding.

Your vote matters. Let’s build Ward 1 together.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been out right across Ward 1, and the message I’m hearing is clear: residents want a council that listens, plans smart, and puts people before politics.

We’ve talked about:
- **Safety and empathy** when it comes to homeless encampments and public‑safety concerns.
- **Parks and green spaces**, especially the long‑overdue revitalization of Dominion Park and other Ward 1 green infrastructure.
- **Transit and traffic**, including how to make sure rapid and flexible routes actually serve west Saint John, not just the core.
- **Port growth** that benefits Ward 1 families with jobs and reinvestment, instead of just bringing more noise and truck traffic into our neighbourhoods.
- **On‑the‑ground accessibility** so sidewalks, intersections, and transit work for seniors, people with disabilities, and families with young children.

Westside residents deserve a council that leads with restraint and accountability during tough economic times.

**Here’s where I need you most:**
If you share these priorities—safer streets, greener parks, better transit, and a council that represents Ward 1, not special interests—please **VOTE RICHARD LEE** on May 11 and share this post with three neighbours who care about our community.

Your vote is your voice. Let’s get Ward 1 the representation it deserves.

**Saint John deserves better oversight and transparency.**

With recent issues surrounding police governance in our city, it’s a clear reminder that when boards and commissions lack an open, transparent appointment process, the community loses out. Decisions that impact public safety and city services shouldn't happen behind closed doors; they deserve accountability.

If I’m elected to represent Ward 1 on May 11, I’m committed to pushing for a more transparent, merit-based approach to how we fill these critical roles. Residents deserve to know that those representing them on commissions were chosen fairly and are working solely for the public good.

It’s time to move toward a model of governance that truly serves the people of Saint John.
