Wheatland County Assessment Services will be performing 2026 Assessment Inspections throughout the Village of Rockyford on Wednesday Sept. 9. and Thursday Sept. 10. The purpose of these inspections is to update property assessment information and to gather information on new or incomplete buildings constructed in the previous year.
The inspections will require taking exterior photograph(s) and may require measuring of buildings.
The assessors will try to perform most inspection visually but occasionally may require an onsite interview or inspection.
If follow-up information is needed and no one is available, a yellow callback card will be left at the main entrance or another clearly visible location on the property.

All assessors carry personal identification and will be wearing a high visibility vest. The vehicle will be clearly marked with a Wheatland County logo and “Assessment Department” sign.
Assessors will adhere to all safety procedures.

Wheatland County Assessment Services is striving to prepare and maintain a fair and equitable property assessment base and would like to thank residents in advance for their cooperation during the 2026 assessment inspections.
Should concerns arise during these inspections, please contact the Manager of Assessment at 403-361-2009.

Meet Dan,

How long have you been a paramedic?

I have been a Paramedic for 7 years, in Saskatchewan and Alberta

What made you want to become a Paramedic?

Everybody needs a helping hand once in a while, and it is a privilege to be able to give a hand when someone needs it.

What is one thing you want the people to know about EMS?

Our job is so much more than the medicine. There are times when sometimes all you can do is be the person who listens, helps tidy the house quickly, or feeds the animals before we head to the hospital. As much as the medicine matters, treating everyone kindly is more important.

Fun fact about Dan,

I am really into cooking, painting and especially legos!

Spectre Systems (https://spectresystems.ca/), the construction crew that will be completing the update to the courts at Prairie Ridge Park, will be arriving on Tuesday, September 8th. We ask that residents stay away from the construction area to ensure everyone's safety. The first phase of construction will include removing part of the fence around the court and removing/replacing the current surface of the court. A few weeks after this is finished, Tomko Construction will be applying the final top coat and lines to the court.

🚒🚑 Why are Fire and EMS on calls together?

If you call 911 for a medical emergency, you may see both an ambulance and the fire department respond, and depending on the call, there can be a very good reason for that.

Fire and EMS often work as one team, bringing different people, equipment and capabilities to the same emergency.

On serious medical calls, firefighters may provide extra trained hands for CPR, patient movement, lifting, carrying equipment, scene safety or other lifesaving tasks within their level of training.

Some fire companies also have EMS trained personnel or Quick Response Services or Units, meaning medically trained responders may be coming directly from the fire station or in a separate response vehicle to begin or assist with patient care.

And sometimes the reason for both agencies being there is even more obvious.

At a serious vehicle crash, for example, EMS may be treating the patient while firefighters handle hazards, stabilization or extrication. In some communities, Fire Police may also be there helping close or control the roadway so responders can work safely.

There is no rule that says the fire department will always arrive first or that the ambulance will. Whichever available resource gets there first may begin helping, and the rest of the team joins in as they arrive.

So when you see several emergency vehicles at one call, it doesn’t necessarily mean too many people were sent.

Sometimes it means exactly what that patient needs:

Different roles. Different resources. One team working toward the same goal. ❤️
