Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants

Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants All services provided by Career Paths are fully funded by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.

Many BC immigrants have skills and experience in occupations where there are shortages of qualified workers, but are often unable to access these jobs in BC. Back in Motion’s Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants provides occupation-specific resources and support to help immigrant job seekers move into careers that match their qualifications. Career Paths is a free service offered under the WelcomeBC umbrella, funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.

Last week, it was great to attend Networking@Night at UNITI — organized by the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade.

Badhri Narayanan MBA, CCS, CRS and Raminder Kaur from our CPSI team represented Back in Motion Rehab Inc. at this event, where we had the wonderful opportunity to reconnect with Katie Crocker, the new CEO of UNITI.

Events like this continue to strengthen partnerships and build meaningful connections that support newcomers and internationally trained professionals in our community.

Thank you to Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade and UNITI for hosting a fantastic evening of networking and collaboration!

Our CPSI team — Badhri Narayanan MBA, CCS, CRS, Duane Babb, Raminder Kaur, Misha Sharma — had a great time attending MOSAIC’s Immigrant Professionals Conference 2025 this Saturday.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with internationally trained professionals and newcomers, and to promote the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants (CPSI) program alongside other wonderful service providers.
As always, Back in Motion continues to walk hand-in-hand with Douglas College-Training Group in supporting pathways for internationally trained health professionals — and it was great to share the table once again with Jennifer Kuenzig this year.

Thank you MOSAIC for organizing yet another successful and impactful conference!

FutureWorks Tour Employer Feedback Forum

On Wednesday, October 8th, Raminder Kaur from the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants - BiM team attended the FutureWorks Tour Employer Feedback Forum, hosted by the Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IECBC) in partnership with the Immigrant Employment Councils of Canada National Network.

The session featured an engaging presentation by Rania Younes, MDes, followed by an inspiring fireside chat between Kelvin Wu, RCIC and Patrick MacKenzie, CEO of IECBC. Their discussion highlighted how employers can use immigration as a thoughtful and sustainable approach to address current workforce needs while planning for the future.

Participants then joined sector-specific roundtable discussions — including Trades, Education, Healthcare, Tech, and Finance — to explore skill gaps, workforce challenges, and practical solutions.

Raminder contributed to the Healthcare sector discussion, where participants had a dynamic conversation about bridging skill gaps and improving pathways for internationally trained professionals.

A big thank you to Immigrant Employment Council of BC for the invitation and for organizing such a meaningful and insightful forum!

Day 4 – Okanagan Trip

That’s a wrap on our yearly CPSI trip to promote the Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants (CPSI) program!

Our final stops were at Kamloops Immigrant Services and WorkBC-KamloopsThompson. It was a pleasure meeting the new team at Kamloops Immigrant Services — thank you, Catherine Litt and Talita Primolan, for the warm welcome and engaging discussion.

Later, I had the opportunity to reconnect with a longtime friend and community partner, Tunji Oshiyoye MBA, ACII Oshiyoye from WorkBC Kamloops. Always inspiring to see the strong collaboration and shared commitment to supporting skilled newcomers in their career journeys.

A great way to conclude an insightful and productive trip across the Okanagan region!
