Smoke alarms over 10 years old? They need to be retired and replaced with a new one!

After 10 years, smoke alarm sensors can begin to lose sensitivity. The test button only confirms that the battery, electronics, and alert system are working; it doesn't mean that the smoke sensor is working. So, while your smoke alarm may still beep after 10 years, the sensor will likely not be as sensitive as it once was.

Smoke alarms can save your life! Replace them after 10 years.
