⚠️ E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Reminder ⚠️

As these devices become more common, it’s important for everyone to understand the rules and ride safely.

Your E-Bike must:
• Be equipped with operable pedals
• Have an electric motor rated at 500 watts or less
• Have a maximum assisted speed of 32 km/h
• Weigh no more than 120kg (including battery)
• Have two independent braking systems
• Battery and electric motor securely fastened to the bicycle frame to prevent them from moving while the E-Bike is operating
• All electrical terminals properly insulated
• Meet Ontario equipment requirements

As a rider you must:
• Be at least 16 years old
• Wear an approved bicycle or motorcycle helmet
• Follow the same traffic laws that apply to cyclists (including stop signs)
• Not ride on controlled-access highways

The Rama Police Service (RPS) is rolling out a new Online Incident Reporting system that aims to make reporting more efficient for community members who need to report non-emergency matters to the police.

The new system can be accessed by residents from their computers or mobile devices to report non-urgent incidents such as property theft, vandalism, and driving complaints directly to the police through an accessible online portal. It is designed to:

📈Boost Community Engagement: Enables residents to report non-emergency situations anytime, from anywhere, ensuring each concern is documented and reviewed.

🚔Better Allocate Police Resources: Frees up police resources for urgent needs, enhancing the overall responsiveness of RPS.

📱Increase Accessibility: Offers a user-friendly interface for the public, available 24/7, 365 days a year.

The Rama Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Constable in Training Tyrone Magbitang.

Our thoughts are with the Durham Regional Police Service and the entire policing community during this difficult time.

The Durham Regional Police Service is profoundly saddened by the tragic death of Constable in Training (CIT) Tyrone Magbitang, 27, who was involved in a motor vehicle collision while travelling to the Ontario Police College on July 7, 2026.

CIT Magbitang joined the Durham Regional Police Service as a Special Constable in May 2023. In April of this year, he took the next step toward achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a police officer when he was selected as a police constable recruit.

Tyrone was a compassionate, dedicated, and service-driven individual who believed deeply in helping others and making a positive difference in the community. Following his Police Foundations education, he pursued a career in public safety with determination, humility, and an unwavering commitment to serving those around him.

Although his time with our Service was far too short, Tyrone made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He will be remembered for his kindness, professionalism, and the tremendous potential he brought to our organization. His loss is deeply felt throughout the Durham Regional Police Service and the wider policing community.

Today, CIT Magbitang will be transported from London, Ontario, to the Centre for Forensic Sciences (CFS) in Toronto. Loved ones and members of the Durham Regional Police Service will accompany him as a mark of respect and in recognition of his service and commitment to the profession he aspired to join.

On behalf of the Durham Regional Police Service, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Tyrone’s family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. We mourn alongside them and remain committed to supporting all those affected by this unimaginable loss.

We respectfully ask that the privacy of Tyrone’s family and those mourning his loss be honoured during this difficult time.

Our policing family is once again facing the unthinkable. Today, we stand united with the Montreal Police Service (Service de police de la Ville de Montréal - SPVM) after one of their officers was killed, and another officer was seriously injured while protecting their community.

Since June 9, our policing community has been confronted with unprecedented and deeply troubling violence. On June 9, OPP Provincial Constable Tarun Bali was struck and killed while on duty in Hearst. Only two days later, on June 11, Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto was shot and killed while executing a warrant. Yesterday, a Peel Regional Police officer was shot at in Mississauga, and overnight, two RCMP officers were seriously injured during a shooting in Melville, Saskatchewan. Now, we are mourning yet another fallen officer in Montreal.

On behalf of the OPP, I extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of these fallen heroes. Their loss is immeasurable, and we will ensure their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

Our officers continue to stand in our communities, protecting the public in the face of danger, and responding with courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment. But they cannot, and should not, stand alone. They need the full support of the justice and social systems, our partners and all Canadians. We owe it to every officer we have lost — and every officer who continues to serve — to do everything in our power to protect them.

Today, we remember. We stand together. And we remain resolute in our mission to keep communities safe.
