⚠️ E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Reminder ⚠️
As these devices become more common, it’s important for everyone to understand the rules and ride safely.
Your E-Bike must:
• Be equipped with operable pedals
• Have an electric motor rated at 500 watts or less
• Have a maximum assisted speed of 32 km/h
• Weigh no more than 120kg (including battery)
• Have two independent braking systems
• Battery and electric motor securely fastened to the bicycle frame to prevent them from moving while the E-Bike is operating
• All electrical terminals properly insulated
• Meet Ontario equipment requirements
As a rider you must:
• Be at least 16 years old
• Wear an approved bicycle or motorcycle helmet
• Follow the same traffic laws that apply to cyclists (including stop signs)
• Not ride on controlled-access highways
